Construction has topped out and is quickly wrapping up on the six-story, 102-unit mixed-use building under development at 5 Blue Slip as part of the Greenpoint Landing mega-development, in northern Greenpoint. All of the building’s apartments will rent at below-market rates through the affordable housing lottery; applications for them have just launched.

Construction is chugging along on the banks of Newtown Creek in north Brooklyn, where Greenpoint Landing will eventually span 10 acres with 5,000 apartments. YIMBY swung by the megaproject earlier this month and caught up on the progress at three affordable rental buildings: 33 Eagle Street, 21 Commercial Street, and 5 Blue Slip.
In northern Greenpoint, three mid-rise affordable residential buildings are going up, with 21 Commercial Street, a six-story, 93-unit residential building, the first to top out. In May, foundation work was underway at 33 Eagle Street, where a seven-story, 98-unit building is planned, and now construction is above street level, according to Brownstoner.
