Related’s towers rising over the Eastern Railyards as part of the Hudson Yards redevelopment have been well over a decade in the making, but one block to the north, progress has been substantially faster on the redevelopment of the southwest corner of 34th Street and 10th Avenue. YIMBY previously reported that Mitsui Fudosan took a 90% ownership stake from Related as of early September, and now, excavation is underway.

Last week, YIMBY revealed a few new renderings for Related’s behemoth office tower 50 Hudson Yards, which is set to rise on the southwest corner of 34th Street and 10th Avenue. While partial permits have already been filed, it appears that the entire tower will imminently be moving forward, with an announcement yesterday on the Nikkei that Mitsui Fudosan would take a 90% stake in the project, which is valued at $3.6 billion.

985-Foot-Tall, 2.9-Million-Square-Foot Office Tower 50 Hudson Yards Lands Anchor Tenant

After two years of negotiations, Related Companies has reached a deal to lease 15 contiguous floors, or 850,000 square feet, to BlackRock, the investment management corporation, at its planned 2.9-million-square-foot, 985-foot-tall office tower 50 Hudson Yards. The building is located along Tenth Avenue, between West 33rd and 34th streets, in the Hudson Yards district.
