Developers Celebrate Ribbon Cutting for Affordable Housing at Dr. Joan O. Dawson Plaza in Harlem, Manhattan

This week, developers and city officials celebrated the official opening of Camber Property Group‘s new affordable senior housing development in Harlem. The Dr. Joan O. Dawson Plaza, formerly known as Victory Plaza, is a 100-percent affordable complex with 136 units developed by Harlem Congregations for Community Improvement (HCCI) in partnership with Camber. The building was renamed in honor of Dr. Joan O. Dawson, the longtime chair of the Board of Directors at HCCI. Although residents began moving into the development in February, the official ribbon cutting was delayed until now.

Located at the intersection of 12th Street and 4th Avenue, the corner lot is a short walk to the 4th Avenue-9th Street subway station, serviced by the F, G, and R trains. Procida Companies under the 487 4th Avenue Managers LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.

Foundations Underway at 378 Weirfield Street in Bushwick, Brooklyn

Foundation work is underway for a new five-story residential property at 378 Weirfield Street in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Designed by Aufgang Architects, the building will comprise 40,476 square feet, with 25,876 square feet designated for residential space. The property will yield 39 rental apartments averaging roughly 663 square feet apiece. The structure will also have a single cellar level and a 38-foot-long rear yard.

Construction began last month on a new mixed-use property with affordable housing in Forest Hills, Queens. Located at 69-65 Yellowstone Boulevard, the 11-story building is designed by Aufgang Architects and developed by Slate Property Group, which recently secured $90 million in construction financing.

Located between Fink Avenue and Ponton Avenue, the lot is near the Westchester Square-East Tremont Avenue subway station, serviced by the 6 train. Nimrud Eyal of Exact Capital Group, under the Blondell Equities LLC, is listed as the owner behind the applications. YIMBY previously reported Blondell Equities filed a rezoning proposal for a nine-story mixed-use structure at the site.

Victory Plaza has officially opened in Central Harlem. The nine-story, 136-unit development with 100 percent affordable housing for seniors is located at 11 West 118th Street. Developed by Camber Property Group in partnership with Harlem Congregations for Community Improvement (HCCI), the New York City Department of Housing Preservation & Development, and the New York City Housing Development Corporation, the building is designed by Aufgang Architects.

Affordable Housing Development Tops Out at 913 East Tremont Avenue in West Farms, The Bronx

Last week Camber Property Group and Westhab announced the topping out of 913 East Tremont Avenue, a 100-percent affordable rental development in The Bronx’s West Farms neighborhood. Components of the 11-story, 98,846-square-foot development include 119 housing units and 6,500 square feet of commercial space. The building is designed by Aufgang Architects and is being constructed by SD Builders.

Affordable Housing Secures Financing At 261 East 202nd and 270 East 203rd Streets in Bedford Park, The Bronx

This week New York State Homes and Community Renewal, New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, and developer CAMBA Housing Ventures, an affiliate of CAMBA, Inc. announced the closing of construction financing to the tune of $164 million for an affordable and supportive housing development in Bedford Park, The Bronx. Located at 261 East 202nd Street and 270 East 203rd Street, the two 11-story buildings will be known as CHV 202nd and 203rd Street, and offer 323 residential units and supportive services to the formerly homelessness and seniors. Aufgang Architects is designing the project.
