Below-Grade Work Progresses for The Brook at 589 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn

At number 18 on our year-end countdown of the tallest buildings under construction in the New York area is The Brook, a 51-story residential skyscraper at 589 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Beyer Blinder Belle and developed by Witkoff and Apollo Global Management, the 600-foot-tall structure will yield 591 units with 30 percent reserved for affordable housing, as well as 30,000 square feet of retail space and a 12,000-square-foot cellar level. Bonetti Kozerski is the interior designer and Suffolk Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is bound by DeKalb Avenue to the north, Fulton Street to the south, Flatbush Avenue diagonally to the east, and Bond Street to the west.

The Jersey City Planning Board unanimously approved plans to construct a 60-story mixed-use tower at 400-420 Marin Boulevard. 90 Sands Street Affordable Housing Tower Opens in DUMBO, Brooklyn

Work is complete on 90 Sands Street, a 30-story residential tower in DUMBO, Brooklyn. Designed by Beyer Blinder Belle and developed by Breaking Ground, the project involved the redevelopment of the former Jehovah’s Witness Hotel and yields 491 units with a portion devoted to deeply affordable housing and supportive housing for the formerly homeless, as well as a 28,000-square-foot community facility and commercial space spanning the first and second floors and a public plaza at the corner of Sands and Jay Streets.

Construction is now complete on Twenty Five Maple, a seven-story mixed-use property at 25 Maple Avenue in downtown New Rochelle. Designed by Beyer Blinder Belle and developed by WBP Development and LMXD, an affiliate of L+M Development Partners, the 275,000-square-foot building comprises 184 rental units in studio to two-bedroom layouts, 1,900 square feet of ground floor commercial space, and a 115,000-square-foot parking structure.
