Bjarke Ingels-Designed Supertall For Tishman Speyer Revealed At 66 Hudson Boulevard, Hudson Yards

One of the largest remaining development sites in the Hudson Yards rezoning, owned by Tishman Speyer, now has official plans, as per the Wall Street Journal. The building, at 66 Hudson Boulevard, will stand 1,005 feet to its pinnacle, rising 65 floors and containing 2.85 million square feet overall, including 27,000 square feet of retail. The tower will cost upwards of $3 billion, and Danish architect Bjarke Ingels of BIG is designing the supertall, which will be laced in bands of diagonal sky terraces. The site is located between West 34th and West 35th Streets and 10th Avenue, and Tishman is currently seeking an anchor tenant.

Reveal For Three-Story, 43,500 Square-Foot Police Station At 561 St. Ann’s Avenue, Mott Haven

The city’s Department of Design and Construction tasked the Bjarke Ingels Group to design a new three-story station for New York City Police Department’s 40th Precinct, and now the Architect’s Newspaper has the project’s reveal. The new station will be located at 561-585 St. Ann’s Avenue, currently a vacant parcel on the corner of East 149th Street, in Mott Haven. The 59-foot-tall facility will measure 43,500 square feet and will feature a central indoor atrium, a green roof, and a community meeting room. The project will also include the redesign of a triangular parking lot immediately to the north. Starr Whitehouse Landscape Architects is leading the site design work. Completion is expected in 2020.

Media Companies Back Out Of Anchoring Bjarke Ingels-Designed 2 World Trade Center, Financial District

Last summer, News Corp. and 21st Century Fox signed a letter of intent to lease 1.3 million square feet in the Bjarke Ingels Group-designed 2 World Trade Center (a.k.a. 200 Greenwich Street), in the Financial District. It was never a contract that bounded the media companies to the space, and last week they decided not to make the move, Bloomberg Business reported. The two businesses will extend their leases through 2025 at their current headquarters at 1211 Sixth Avenue and 1185 Sixth Avenue, in Midtown. The fate of both Bjarke Ingels’ latest design and Norman Foster’s original design are unknown. The foundation for Foster’s tower, a 2.8-million square-foot, 80-story office building, has already been already built.



76 11th Avenue

First Look at 76 11th Avenue, BIG-Designed Towers Coming to Meatpacking

While the length of the High Line has seen a surge of construction since the elevated park initially opened, there are still a few major sites left that remain ripe for new development. Perhaps the largest such parcel is at 76 11th Avenue, between 17th and 18th Streets, which was acquired by HFZ Capital for $870 million back in April. Now, YIMBY can reveal the site’s preliminary plans, created by Bjarke Ingels Group.
