Construction is continuing to rise on Two Manhattan West, a 935-foot-tall commercial skyscraper in Midtown West. Designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill and developed by Brookfield, the 58-story office tower stands at the corner of West 31st Street and Ninth Avenue, directly to the south of One Manhattan West, its 996-foot-tall architecturally identical sibling. The building will yield 2 million square feet and is expected to cost $2 billion.

Graduate Hotel And Verizon Executive Education Center Complete Construction on Roosevelt Island

Work is fully complete on Snøhetta‘s 18-story, 224-room Graduate Hotel at 22 North Loop Road and the adjacent four-story Verizon Tech Executive Education Center on Roosevelt Island. Stonehill Taylor worked alongside Snøhetta for the Graduate Hotel, serving as the architect of record. The Graduate Hotel and the Verizon Tech Center properties are the final pieces of the Skidmore, Owings & Merrill-designed Cornell Tech master plan, which was developed by Hudson CompaniesRelated Companies, and Brookfield and rises south of the Queensboro Bridge’s central span. Architectural Precast Innovations (API) was the concrete partner on the two buildings.

Construction is progressing on 685 Fifth Avenue, a 100,000-square-foot office-to-condominium conversion in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Marin Architects and developed SHVO in partnership with BLG Holdings and Deutsche Financial, the project involves the addition of ten floors atop the existing existing 20-story structure, bringing it to a total height of 350 feet tall. The $135 million project will yield 69 condominium units designed by March & White and managed by Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, as well as retail space with Fifth Avenue frontage marketed by Brookfield Properties. The property is located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and East 53rd Street.

Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Brookfield Properties, the project involves the complete overhaul of the 64-year-old structure, which was originally designed by Carson & Lundin and formerly addressed as 666 Fifth Avenue, replacing its mid-century exterior with a modern glass enclosure. The 1.5-million-square-foot property is located between West 52nd and 53rd Streets.

In an exciting reveal for the ongoing redevelopment and rebuilding of the World Trade Center, Kohn Pedersen Fox has unveiled the first set of renderings for its proposed 900-foot-tall design for Five World Trade Center, aka 130 Liberty Street. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey selected the winning bid at a board meeting on Thursday afternoon to allow Silverstein Properties, Brookfield Properties, Omni New York LLC, and Dabar Development Partners to lease the 1.56-million-square-foot mixed-use building under a 99-year ground lease.
