Twin Two-Story, Two-Family Houses Coming to 9806 Avenue N, Canarsie

An anonymous Lower Manhattan-based LLC has filed applications for two two-story, two-family houses at 9806 and 9808 Avenue N, located on the corner of East 98th Street in Canarsie. The buildings will measure 3,780 square feet and 3,710 square feet respectively. Across both, the residential units should average 1,072 square feet apiece. There will also be a total of four off-street parking spaces. Sugnam Chang’s Brooklyn-based Basic Groups Corporation is the architect of record. The 5,000-square-foot plot is occupied by a single-story house. Demolition permits were filed in late 2015.

Brooklyn-based property owner Leonid Pinkhasov has filed applications for a three-story, three-unit residential building at 8516 Avenue J, in Canarsie. The structure will measure 5,346 square feet and its full-floor residential units should average 1,388 square feet, indicative of family-sized configurations. Amenities include storage space in the cellar and three off-street parking spots. The 45-foot-wide, 4,827-square-foot property is partially occupied by a two-story, two-unit townhouse at 8514 Avenue J. The 1,977-square-foot building will be renovated as part of the project. Long Island City-based Carusone & Cherres Architects is the architect of record. The property was subdivided into two tax lots in May.

Sam Manshari, head of a Fresh Meadows-based anonymous LLC, has filed applications for four two-story, two-unit residential buildings at 1068-1070 East 98th Street and 217-221 Conklin Avenue, in Canarsie, located a block south of the Canarsie – Rockaway Parkway stop on the L train. The two buildings on East 98th Street will have 1,887 square feet of residential space each, which means full-floor units at those addresses will average 944 square feet apiece. On Conklin Avenue, the buildings will each measure 2,740 square feet, so full-floor units there will average 1,370 square feet apiece. Queens-based Gerald Caliendo is the architect of record. The L-shaped property assemblage is currently vacant.


1553 East 98th Street

Two Stories, Four Residential Units Coming To 1553 East 98th Street, Canarsie

Brooklyn-based Amadu Barrie, doing business as B & Barrie LLC, has filed applications for two two-family residential buildings at 1549-1553 East 98th Street, in southern Canarsie. Although the two semi-detached buildings differ by about 400 square feet in footage, the entire development will measure 4,119 square feet, which translates into units averaging roughly 1,030 square feet. Jamaica-based Banji Awosika Architect is the applicant of record, and permits to demolish the existing single-family home were filed last August.


9220 Skidmore Avenue

12 Residential Units Planned At 9220 Skidmore Avenue, Canarsie

Yaj Developers has filed applications for two three-story residential buildings, each with six units, at 9220-9222 Skidmore Avenue near the Shore Parkway in southern Canarsie. Each of the 12 apartments will measure a spacious average of 1,040 square feet. Roman Sorokko’s Versatile Engineering is the applicant of record. The site’s former single-story home was demolished in late 2014.
