Leasing Begins for 280 Ashland Place, Downtown Brooklyn

As YIMBY reported back in October, construction is nearly complete for the 12-story 280 Ashland Place, in the Downtown Cultural District of Brooklyn, and now, leasing has officially commenced. The project has been named Caesura, a term for the pause in the middle of a line of music poetry. Its next-door neighbor, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, gives the inspiration. Jonathan Rose Companies LLC is behind the building, which had previously gone by the address of 15 Lafayette Avenue.

Renderings Revealed for 1932 Bryant Avenue, West Farms, The Bronx

Today, YIMBY has the reveal for renderings of a 15-story affordable housing development at 1932 Bryant Avenue, in The Bronx’s West Farms neighborhood. The site will yield 319 affordable apartments just two blocks away from the West Farms Square Subway Station, which is serviced by the 2 and 5 trains. The Bronx Zoo is also nearby, in the same park as the New York Botanical Garden. Second Farms Neighborhood Housing is responsible for the development.

Plan for “Chestnut Commons” Affordable Housing Revealed in East New York

Plans have been announced for 274 affordable housing units as part of a project entitled Chestnut Commons, in East New York. A rezoning shift pushed by the East New York Neighborhood Plan is mostly responsible for the site’s potential. The building will be affordable to households earning up to $51,540, with more than 80 units for households earning up to $25,770, including a set-aside for formerly homeless families and individuals.

The Upper West Side doesn’t often see major new residential developments, especially of the affordable variety, which is why HPD’s plans for 145 West 108th Street, on behalf of the West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing, are somewhat surprising. Dattner Architects will be designing, and today, YIMBY has the first images of what the two-building project will look like.
