Affordable Housing Lottery Launches for The Suffolk at 55 Suffolk Street on Manhattan’s Lower East Side

The affordable housing lottery has launched for The Suffolk, a 31-story residential building at 55 Suffolk Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Developed by The Gotham Organization and designed by Dattner Architects and JG Neukomm Architecture, the structure yields 378 residences made up of 25 percent permanently affordable and 75 percent market rate units. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 95 units for residents at 40 to 100 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $27,738 to $165,500.

The Gotham Organization has revealed new renderings of the amenity spaces at The Suffolk, a 378-unit residential tower at 55 Suffolk Street on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Designed by Dattner Architects and JG Neukomm Architecture, the 30-story tower comprises 330,000 square feet and is a major component of the developer’s Broome Street Development.

Renderings Reveal $1.2B Mixed-Use Alafia Campus in East New York, Brooklyn

Developers and New York State agencies have revealed renderings for Alafia, a 27-acre redevelopment project in East New York, Brooklyn. Located along Fountain Avenue near the Betts Creek waterfront, the $1.2 billion multi-phase campus will create 2,400 affordable apartments, a 15,000-square-foot outpatient medical clinic, retail space, multiple parking areas, and a mix of publicly accessible green space and recreational area.

Vital Brookdale Affordable Housing Complex Now Complete at 535 East 98th Street in Brownsville, Brooklyn

Construction is complete on Vital Brookdale, a 160-unit affordable and supportive housing development at 535 East 98th Street in Brownsville, Brooklyn. The development team for Vital Brookdale includes Smith & Henzy Affordable Group and The New York Foundling, a non-profit agency founded in 1869 that provides foster care, mental health services, educational programs, and a litany of community support services across the New York City region.

Empire State Dairy Expansion Kicks Off at 2840 Atlantic Avenue in East New York, Brooklyn

Work has begun on the expansion and redevelopment of the historic Empire State Dairy Company Building at 2840 Atlantic Avenue in East New York. Designed by Dattner Architects and developed by The Moinian Group and Bushburg, the project involves the partial gutting of the existing low-rise building to support a 14-story tower with 320 residential units, 12,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, and a new charter school. The entire property will comprise 370,000 square feet.

Work is complete on the Stanley Manne Research Institute, a new research and lab facility at the Bronx High School of Science in Bedford Park, The Bronx. Construction was made possible by alumnus Stanley Manne’s $18 million gift to the high school’s alumni association, the largest-ever gift to a New York City public school.

Developers, New York City officials, and community leaders recently joined to celebrate the grand opening of 425 Grand Concourse, a 26-story affordable housing property in Mott Haven, The Bronx. Designed by Dattner Architects and developed by Trinity Financial and local non-profit group MBD Community Housing Corporation, the 300,000-square-foot structure will yield 277 affordable apartments, an educational facility, a health clinic, a supermarket, and a community cultural space.

Located between East 138th Street and East 140th Street, the lot is near the 138 Street-Grand Concourse subway station, serviced by the 4 and 5 trains. Joshua Weissman of JCAL Development is listed as the owner behind the applications.

Permits Filed for Three Brookdale Hospital Buildings in East Flatbush, Brooklyn

Permits have been filed by Brookdale Hospital Medical Center for three structures in East Flatbush, Brooklyn: a five-story mixed-use building at 86 East 49th Street, a five-story mixed-use building at 808 Rutland Road, and a seven-story mixed-use building at 545 Schenectady Avenue. Located on the same block as Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, the Utica Avenue subway station is within walking distance, serviced by the 2, 3, and 4 trains.

Developers and local officials recently celebrated the completion of WSFSSH at West 108th Street, a new supportive housing complex on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. The project comprises two buildings at 143-159 West 108th Street and 103 West 108th Street and was developed by the West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing, a non-profit organization that helps sponsor and program new affordable housing properties in the five boroughs.
