Permits have been filed for a nine-story mixed-use building at 160 East 125th Street in Harlem, Manhattan. Located between Third Avenue and Lexington Avenue, the through lot is steps from the 125th Street subway station at Lexington Avenue, serviced by the 4, 5, and 6 trains. Extell under the 160 East 125th Owner LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
Exterior work on Extell‘s Central Park Tower is nearing the finish line. The reflective glass curtain wall is approaching the parapet of the 1,550-foot-tall skyscraper, which is also addressed 217 West 57th Street. Designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill, the supertall has the highest roof level of any building in the Western Hemisphere and will yield 179 residences, with Extell projecting a $4 billion sellout.
A recent split 2-2 vote by the Board of Standards and Appeals upheld the city’s Department of Buildings’ approval for 50 West 66th Street, which will become the Upper West Side’s tallest building. Local NIMBY group Landmark West was defeated in its assertion that developer Extell wrongly used mechanical space to bump up the 775-foot-tall height of the project without taking into consideration floor area restrictions.
Extell has revealed renderings of the Central Park Tower’s 100th floor residential club. Perched over 1,000 feet above Billionaires’ Row, this will be the highest residential lounge in the world. The club will span 8,300 square feet and include a private ballroom, a dining room, a bar, a full-service kitchen, and a wine and cigar lounge. The 1,550-foot-tall skyscraper, which is also addressed 217 West 57th Street, is designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill and will contain 179 residences, on which Extell is expecting a $4 billion sellout. The 100th floor club is designed by Rottet Studio, which also designed the residential interiors.
The Hard Rock Hotel is now above street level at 159 West 48th Street in Times Square. The 225,000-square-foot, 445-room hotel is designed by Berg + Moss Architects and is being developed by Extell and Hard Rock International.
