First Glimpse at Gene Kaufman-Designed 76 8th Avenue, Meatpacking

It’s been almost two years since we last checked in on 76 8th Avenue, on the corner of West 14th Street in the Meatpacking District. A few aspects of the building have changed since YIMBY’s last report. Mainly, it will now be a ten-story building, not twelve. This means the project will lose 7,000 square feet, reducing the total area to 30,000 square feet. And now, we have a first glimpse at renderings.

Reveal for 26-Story Hotel Coming to 525 Eighth Avenue, Midtown

A White Castle that has now been demolished will not be the worst thing to have ever occupied 525 Eighth Avenue, which YIMBY reported on back in October of 2016, when permits were filed for a 24-story hotel designed by Gene Kaufman Architects. Revised plans approved in August show a slight increase in the height, to 26 floors, and today, we have the reveal for what the project will look like.

Permits Filed for 45-Story Hotel at 140 West 24th Street, Chelsea

Chelsea’s hotel boom has been gobbling up whatever under-built properties remain in the neighborhood, and now that is happening at 140 West 24th Street, between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, where new building applications were filed yesterday. Sam Chang is developing a new 45-story and 416-foot-tall tower on the property, which is naturally going to be designed by neighborhood go-to, Gene Kaufman.
