Construction has broken ground at 251 Douglass Street, the site of a 15-story residential building in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Designed by Fogarty Finger Architects and developed by Charney Companies and Tavros Capital, the 15-story building will span 250,000 square feet and yield 260 residential rental apartments. Notably, 25 percent of the inventory will be designated as affordable housing, aligning with city efforts to increase inclusive living options. The development will also include ground-floor retail spaces and parking facilities, enhancing the area’s commercial and residential appeal.

Construction is progressing on 217 9th Street, a seven-story mixed-use building in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Designed by Gee 2000 Architect PC and developed by Praim Singh, the 13,500-square-foot structure will yield 13 units with an average scope of 808 square feet, as well as a 2,990-square-foot medical facility on the ground floor. 360 Prestige Contracting is the general contractor for the project, which is located between 3rd and 4th Avenues.

Earthwork Begins for 544 Carroll Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn

Excavation is getting underway at 544 Carroll Street, the site of a 17-story residential building on the eastern edge of Gowanus, Brooklyn. Designed and developed by Avery Hall with L+Z Architecture as the architect of record, the 175,000-square-foot structure will yield 133 rental units with 25 percent designated as affordable housing, as well as 6,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Leeding Builders Group LLC is the construction manager for the property, which is alternately addressed as 272 Fourth Avenue and bound by Carroll Street to the north and 4th Avenue to the east.
