Journal Squared’s Next 72-Story Residential Skyscraper Rising Rapidly at 537 Summit Avenue, in Jersey City

Work on the second phase of Journal Squared at 537 Summit Avenue in Jersey City is progressing rapidly. Construction workers are pouring the floor slabs for what will become a 72-story residential skyscraper. The structure is set to stand 759 feet and become the tallest of the proposed trio of towers, of which one is already completed next door. All three are being designed by HWKN/Hollwich Kushner and Handel ArchitectsKushner Real Estate Development is the developer of the entire site, which sits adjacent to the Journal Square PATH train station on a hill overlooking New York City. The second phase will yield 700 units, 18,000 square feet of retail space, and a gross floor space of roughly 1,000,000 square feet.

Permits have been filed for a 44-story, mixed-use building at 451 10th Avenue in Hudson Yards, Manhattan. Located between West 35th Street and West 36th Street, the corner lot is one block north of the 34th Street-Hudson Yards subway station, serviced by the 7 train. Bryan Cho of Related Companies is listed as the owner behind the applications. In 2017, Spitzer Enterprises and Related Companies announced a partnership to develop a two-tower, 1.4-million-square-foot project at that site.

Work on the reinforced concrete superstructure at 126 Madison Avenue, aka 15 East 30th Street, is now topped out. The slender 756-foot-tall tower is now the tallest skyscraper in NoMad, standing 51 stories, and makes a clear impression on the Midtown skyline. The residential building is being designed by Handel Architects, while Fosun Group and JD Carlisle are responsible for the nearly 300,000-square-foot development.

Excavation Begins For 25 Columbus Drive in Jersey City

The first stages of excavation at 25 Columbus Drive are apparent as the asphalt from the former parking lot is now being ripped up. This will become the future site of a new mixed-use complex that will rise 626 feet tall and 57 floors high. Handel Architects is designing the proposed structure, while Mack Cali is the developer of the downtown Jersey City project. A total of 750 rental apartments, a 35,000-square-foot privately-funded public school for levels pre-K through first grade, four storefronts covering 16,485 square feet of retail space, and a public plaza will soon be built.
