111 West 57th Street’s Podium Nears Completion in Midtown, Manhattan

Work is nearing full completion on 111 West 57th Street as construction wraps up on the lower podium section of the 1,428-foot residential supertall in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by SHoP Architects and developed by JDS DevelopmentProperty Markets Group, and Spruce Capital Partners, the 84-story skyscraper will yield 60 condominiums designed by Studio Sofield and marketed by The Corcoran Group. WSP is the structural engineer, Jaros, Baum & Bolles is the MEP engineer, R&R Scaffolding Ltd. provided the building maintenance unit (BMU) sitting atop the crown, RWDI consulted with the design of the dampening system, and BuroHappold Engineering is the façade consultant for the tower, which is located between Sixth and Seventh Avenues on Billionaires’ Row.

Brooklyn Tower’s Façade Reaches Final Residential Levels at 9 DeKalb Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn

Façade installation is approaching the 1,066-foot pinnacle of the The Brooklyn Tower, a 93-story residential supertall skyscraper at 9 DeKalb Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn and the tallest structure in the outer boroughs. Designed by SHoP Architects and developed by JDS Development, the building will yield 550 residences, with 150 for purchase, as well as a 100,000-square-foot retail podium bound by Flatbush Avenue Extension to the northeast, Fleet Street to the northwest, and DeKalb Avenue to the south. This public portion of The Brooklyn Tower will utilize the landmarked Dime Savings Bank of Brooklyn, which is being renovated. Douglas Elliman is serving as the exclusive marketing, sales, and leasing agent for the property. YIMBY last reported that 30 percent of rentals are designated as affordable housing units, and residences for purchase start over 500 feet above street level.

Designed by SHoP Architects and developed by JDS, the 93-story tower holds the title of the tallest structure in the Outer Boroughs that will yield 150 condominiums, 280 market-rate rentals, 120 affordable rentals, as well as a 100,000-square-foot retail podium bound by Flatbush Avenue Extension to the northeast, Fleet Street to the northwest, and DeKalb Avenue to the south. The Brooklyn Tower complex also includes the refurbishing and repurposing of the landmarked Dime Savings Bank of Brooklyn, which is being incorporated into the podium.
