Crown Panel Installation Begins at 111 West 57th Street in Midtown

SHoP Architects‘ 111 West 57th Street recently reached another milestone as work has commenced on the installation of the transparent paneling on the supertall’s steel crown. This is the final major external component of the world’s most slender skyscraper, which is developed by JDS DevelopmentProperty Markets Group, and Spruce Capital Partners. The 1,428-foot-tall tower will contain 46 condominiums designed by Studio Sofield and marketed by Douglas Elliman.

The terracotta and bronze façade has reached the bottom of the steel crown of SHoP Architects‘ 111 West 57th Street, the second-tallest project in YIMBY’s construction countdown. Developed by JDS DevelopmentProperty Markets Group, and Spruce Capital Partners, the 1,428-foot-tall residential skyscraper features a height-to-width ratio of 24:1, making it the most slender building in the world. A total of 46 condominiums will be created and marketed by Douglas EllimanStudio Sofield is the interior designer.

Brooklyn’s First Supertall Gets Its Construction Crane, at 9 DeKalb Avenue

Work has taken a big step forward at 9 DeKalb Avenue, the outer boroughs’ first supertall skyscraper and number seven on YIMBY’s countdown of the tallest projects underway in New York City. The construction crane has been assembled at the Downtown Brooklyn site and things are gearing up for the start of vertical progress in 2020. The 73-story, 1,066-foot-tall tower is designed by SHoP Architects and developed by JDS, the same duo behind 111 West 57th Street.

The world’s most slender building has nearly perfectly centered views of Central Park to the north, and clear views of the Empire State Building down to One World Trade Center to the south. JDS DevelopmentProperty Markets Group, and Spruce Capital Partners are developing the 1,428-foot-tall residential skyscraper, which has a height-to-width ratio of 24:1. A total of 46 condominiums will be created and marketed by Douglas Elliman. Studio Sofield is the interior designer.
