YIMBY Checks Up On The World Trade Center Site Upon The 20th Anniversary of 9/11, In Financial District

As New York City and the United States remembers and commemorates the 20th anniversary of 9/11, YIMBY once again takes a look at the sacred 16-acre World Trade Center site, which holds the two square footprints of the former Twin Towers that are part of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. We focus on the active and ongoing construction of the Ronald O. Perelman Performing Arts Center, St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, and the current state of Two and Five World Trade Center. All of which are, or are around, the former trapezoidal superblock that held six of the original World Trade Center buildings bound by West, Vesey, Church, and Liberty Streets.

Rose Associates Secures $182M in Financing to Complete Mixed-Use Redevelopment at 440 Hamilton Avenue in White Plains

Rose Associates recently closed on $182 million in construction financing to redevelop an existing 13-story office property for residential and retail use. The property is located at 440 Hamilton Avenue in White Plains, New York and will eventually comprise 255 apartments and 3,400 square feet of ground-floor retail.

Permits Filed for 453 East 166th Street in Morrisania, The Bronx

Permits have been filed for a six-story mixed-use building at 453 East 166th Street in Morrisania, The Bronx. Located at the intersection of Washington Avenue and East 166th Street, the corner lot is between the 167th Street subway station, serviced by the B and D trains and Intervale Avenue station, serviced by the 2 and 5 trains. Emil Friedman of E & Jeryg Management Corp is listed as the owner behind the applications.

Construction Breaks Ground at 1515 Surf Avenue in Coney Island

Construction is now underway at 1515 Surf Avenue, a forthcoming rental property on the waterfront edge of Coney Island, Brooklyn. Developed by LCOR, the building will top out at 16 stories with a mix of residential and retail components.

SL Green, Douglas Elliman Launch Leasing at 7 Dey Street in the Financial District

This week SL Green Realty Corp and Douglas Elliman launched leasing at 7 Dey Street, a 34-story mixed-use building in Manhattan’s Financial District. In addition to 209 rentals, the building will also contain a mix of commercial retail and office suites with frontage along both Dey Street and Broadway.

Permits Filed for 134 Jane Street in Manhattan’s West Village

Permits have been filed for an 11-story mixed-use building at 134 Jane Street in the West Village of Manhattan. Located at the intersection of West Street and Jane Street, the corner lot is within walking distance of the 14th Street subway station at 8th Avenue, serviced by the A, B, C, and L trains. Matthew Abreu of Aurora Capital Associates is listed as the owner behind the applications. Aurora Capital is also one of the developers for the neighboring 70-74 Gansevoort Street, a six-story mixed-use office building.

Construction Wraps Up on Tin Building at 95 Marginal Street in Seaport District, Manhattan

Exterior work is nearing completion on the Tin Building, a three-story commercial building at 95 Marginal Street on Pier 17 in the South Street Seaport District. Designed by SHoP Architects and developed by Howard Hughes Corporation with Plaza Construction as construction manager, the facility will open with a seafood-themed market by Jean-Georges Vongerichten, the main tenant of the low rise building. The 53,000-square-foot structure is located to the east of South Street and the elevated FDR Drive.

219 Hudson Street Nears Completion in Hudson Square, Manhattan

Exterior work is wrapping up on 219 Hudson Street, a ten-story mixed-use building in Hudson Square. Designed by Rawlings Architects and developed by Joel Braver, the property will yield 14 residential units, ground-floor retail space, and a community facility at the intersection of Hudson and Canal Streets, just to the west of the entrance to the Holland Tunnel.

The West’s Exterior Nears Completion at 547 West 47th Street in Hell’s Kitchen

Exterior work is nearing completion on The West, a 12-story mixed-use building at 547 West 47th Street in Hell’s Kitchen. Designed by Concrete and developed by CB Developers, SK Development, and Ironstate Development, the 201,000-square-foot development will yield 219 residential units above a 40,000-square-foot ground-floor car dealership. The Marketing Directors is exclusively handling sales and marketing for the units, which range from studios to three-bedroom layouts, and CM & Associates Construction Management LLC is the general contractor for the project. The property is bound by Eleventh Avenue to the west, West 47th Street to the south, and West 48th Street to the north.

Foundation Work Begins for 1841 Broadway on Manhattan’s Upper West Side

Foundation work has begun at 1841 Broadway, site of a 24-story residential building on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Global Holdings Management Group, the 281-foot-tall building will yield 181,319 square feet and 173 units as well as 11,741 square feet of commercial space. Pavarini McGovern, LLC is the general contractor for the project, which will rise at the corner of Broadway and West 60th Street, just north of Columbus Circle and the southwestern corner of Central Park.
