New Jersey Performing Arts Center Unveils Plans to Build Residential Developments on its Newark Campus

The New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark has big plans to diversify its campus with residential developments and a dining venue, as well as the construction of an arts and education center. The proposed buildings are part of the performing center’s goal to become a city lifestyle destination and further the cultural hub’s impact on the downtown neighborhood. L + M Development Partners has teamed up with NJPAC and Larchmont for the 7.3-acre campus expansion. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill is responsible for the design of the buildings and streetscapes. NJPAC purchased the property from the state of New Jersey in December 2018.

550 Clinton Avenue’s Façade Nears Completion in Clinton Hill, Brookyln

Façade work is nearing completion on 550 Clinton Avenue, as the tower crane has been removed from the eastern elevation of the 29-story mixed-use tower in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by Hope Street Capital, the 280,000-square-foot project will yield 284 apartments and about 60,000 square feet of retail area. The structure rises from a four-story podium bound by Atlantic Avenue to the south, Clinton Avenue to the east, and Vanderbilt Avenue to the west.

Community Board Unanimously Approves 1045 Atlantic Avenue in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn

This week, Brooklyn’s Community Board 3 unanimously approved proposals to construct a new mixed-use affordable housing property at 1045 Atlantic Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.

One Boerum Place Nears Completion in Downtown Brooklyn

Exterior work is nearing completion on One Boerum Place, a 22-story residential building in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Avery Hall Investments, Allegra Holdings, and Aria Development Group, the $250 million project will yield 96 apartments designed by Gachot Studios. Nancy Packes, Inc. has launched leasing for the homes, which range from one- to four-bedroom layouts with access to a wide range of amenities. One Boerum Place is bound by Boerum Place to the west, Fulton Street to the north, and Red Hook Lane to the east.

Developers Reveal Major Rezoning Proposal for Mixed-Use Corridor in Astoria, Queens

A trio of local developers is working in collaboration to rezone and redevelop a large swath of 31st Street in Astoria, Queens. The area comprises 24 adjacent lots and four distinct development sites between Hoyt Avenue North and 23rd Road.

Exterior work is continuing on The Paxton, a 511-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper at 540 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Marvel Architects and developed by Jenel Management, the 43-story, 330,000-square-foot building will yield 327 residential units, 71,844 square feet of commercial space, and 22,054 square feet of retail in the podium. M.N.S. is handling sales and marketing for the homes, which range from studios to three-bedroom layouts. The property is located at the intersection of Flatbush Avenue and Fulton Street.

308 Livingston Street’s Dark Brick Façade Begins to Emerge in Downtown Brooklyn

Exterior work is continuing to progress on 308 Livingston Street, a 23-story residential building in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Fogarty Finger Architecture and developed by Lonicera Partners, which purchased the site in May 2019 for $11 million, the property will yield 160 units in a mix of one- and two-bedroom layouts, as well as ground-floor retail space. The site is located between Nevins and Bond Streets.

New renderings from SWA Architecture reveal a change in scale and design for a proposed mixed-use property in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The proposed development will replace existing warehouse properties at 79, 85, and 95 Quay Street near the East River waterfront.

Phipps Houses Secures $217 Million Financing for Phase 1 of Atlantic Chestnut Development in East New York, Brooklyn

Non-profit housing developer Phipps Houses closed on $217 million in construction financing for the first phase of Atlantic Chestnut, a massive three-phase development in Brooklyn. When completed, Atlantic Chestnut will bring 1,200 affordable housing units to the East New York neighborhood under the 2016 East New York Rezoning. With Dattner Architects handling design, the Atlantic Chestnut development will consist of three mid-rise apartment buildings featuring affordable apartments, 60,000 square feet of commercial and community facility space, attended parking for 200 cars, and residential amenities comprising of a gym, children’s playroom, a lounge, a party room, and landscaped courtyards and roof deck. The project is being built by Monadnock Construction.

9 DeKalb Avenue Becomes Tallest Structure in Brooklyn

9 DeKalb Avenue has passed a milestone in its way to becoming the first supertall skyscraper in the outer boroughs. The 93-story residential tower recently surpassed the 720-foot roof height of Brooklyn Point, giving it the title of the tallest structure in Brooklyn. Designed by SHoP Architects and developed by JDS, 9 DeKalb Avenue will stand 1,066 feet tall and yield 450 rental apartments and 150 condominiums. The site is bound by Flatbush Avenue Extension to the northeast, Fleet Street to the northwest, the landmark Dime Savings Bank of Brooklyn to the southwest, and DeKalb Avenue to the south.
