Exclusive: The Vandewater Tops-Out 385 Feet Above Morningside Heights at 543 West 122nd Street

Standing north of Columbia University at 543 West 122nd Street, behind the Jewish Theological Seminary, is the new residential tower dubbed “Vandewater”. Located in Morningside Heights, which was originally called Vandewater Heights, the new 385-foot-tall building will come with over 300,000 square feet of space, and 183 condominiums spread over 33 floors. SLCE Architects is the executive architect while Incorporated Architecture & Design is the designer for the project. Savanna is the project’s developer, while Halstead Property Development Marketing is handling sales.

Permits Filed for 415 West 120th Street, Morningside Heights

Permits have been filed for a fourteen-story residential building at 415 West 120^th Street, in Morningside Heights, Manhattan. The area is well known for its pristine buildings, with portions of the neighborhood recently landmarked as a historic district. The site is seven blocks away from the 116^th Street subway station serviced by the 1 train, and a steep six blocks from the B and C trains, on Frederick Douglass Boulevard. TriArch Real Estate Group is behind the applications.

New high-rises aren’t a frequent occurrence in Upper Manhattan, but one such project currently rising at 543 West 122^nd Street, in Morningside Heights, now has its first renderings. The development will be known as Vandewater, taken from the original Dutch name for the area. Savanna is responsible for the development, and Curbed was the first to reveal the new images.

Construction Nearly Complete for Barnard College’s Milstein Center

Barnard College announced plans to build a new 11-story library and academic center to replace the existing Lehman Hall back in 2014, estimating the project would cost $150 million. YIMBY reported on permit filings for 40 Claremont Avenue back in October of 2015, and now, construction is just about complete on the attractive new building, as seen in the latest from Tectonic.

Most Support Morningside Heights Historic District at LPC Public Hearing
