Developers, City Officials Celebrate Opening of Caton Flats at 800 Flatbush Avenue in Flatbush, Brooklyn

New York City mayor Eric Adams kicked off a weekend-long grand opening celebration for Caton Flats, a new mixed-use development with 255 affordable homes, a revitalized and expanded Flatbush Central Caribbean Marketplace, and 20,000 square feet of community space. Located at 800 Flatbush Avenue in Flatbush, Brooklyn, the development team includes BRP Companies, Urbane, the New York City Economic Development Corporation, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), and the Housing Development Corporation (HDC).

Zero Irving’s Curtain Wall Nears Completion at 124 East 14th Street in Union Square, Manhattan

Construction is nearing completion on Zero Irving, a 21-story mixed-use building at 124 East 14th Street in Union Square. Designed by Davis Brody Bond and developed by RAL Development and Junius Real Estate Partners, the 176,000-square-foot structure will yield affordable and market-rate office space for technology firms as well as a three-floor education and training center, a tech incubator, co-working spaces, and a 10,000-square-foot food hall managed by Urbanspace. Suffolk Construction is the general contractor for the project, which is located along East 14th Street between Broadway to the west and Third Avenue to the east.

Parcel F’s Brick Façade Nears Completion in Hunters Point South, Queens

Façade installation is getting close to completion on Parcel F, a 57-story residential skyscraper in the two-tower Gotham Point development in Hunters Point SouthQueens. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by The Gotham OrganizationRiseBoro Community Partnership, Goldman Sachs Urban Investment Group, and the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), the 559-foot-tall tower stands adjacent to Parcel G, its 33-story, 443-foot-tall sibling. Together, the buildings will yield 1,132 rental apartments, of which 75 percent will be dedicated to affordable housing with age-restricted homes for seniors, as well as a 1,100-seat Intermediate High School built by the School Construction Authority and a 5-acre waterfront park constructed by New York City’s Economic Development Corporation. Handel Architects is the interior designer and BHDM was responsible for the model apartment interiors for the property, which is bound by Center Boulevard to the north, 56th Avenue to the east, and 57th Avenue to the west.

The property is located at 92-23 168th Street and introduces 387 affordable housing units, a parking garage designed to accommodate 130 vehicles, a low-cost Aldi supermarket, and a 15,000-square-foot community center.
