Renderings Revealed for Country’s Largest Timber Office Building in Newark, New Jersey

Renderings are out for an 11-story timber office building proposed for the Riverfront Square development in Newark, New Jersey. The site is located next to New Jersey Transit’s Broad Street station, which is less than a twenty-minute commute to Midtown Manhattan. The project is part of a larger 11.8-acre mixed-use development, as well as Riverfront Park, designed by James Corner Field Operations. Lotus Equity Group will be responsible for the development.

Residential Development Site at 115 Chestnut Street Placed on Market, Newark, N.J.

Property owner Chestnut Global Enterprises has placed the development site at 115 Chestnut Street, located on the corner of Hermon Street in Newark’s Ironbound district, on the market for $3.96 million, Jersey Digs reported. Plans for a five-story, 72-unit residential building, called Vesey Street Commons, are fully approved. The apartments would range from one- to two-bedrooms, if a new developer were to follow the latest permits. The 28,988-square-foot plot is currently vacant. Until roughly a decade ago, it was occupied by an industrial building utilized by the Wilson Imperial Company.

Five-Story, 64-Unit Mixed-Use Redevelopment Underway at 118 Green Street, Newark, N.J.

Construction is currently underway to redevelop the dilapidated four-story industrial property at 118-126 Green Street, on the corner of New Jersey Railroad Avenue in Newark’s Ironbound district, into a five-story structure with 64 residential units. The project, dubbed Textile Lofts, will also feature ground-floor commercial-retail space and a laundromat, Jersey Digs reported. The apartments will range from one- to two-bedrooms. Roseland, N.J.-based J&L Companies and an anonymous LLC are the developers. Bergen County, N.J.-based Inglese Architecture + Engineering is the architect. A construction timeline has not been revealed.

Four-Story, 60-Unit Affordable Residential Project Nears Completion at 359 Halsey Street, Newark

Construction is wrapping on the four-story, 60-unit residential project under development at 359 Halsey Street, located on the southern end of downtown Newark, N.J. The 63,030-square-foot building is dubbed The Residences at Symphony Hall and will contain a mix of one- and two-bedroom rental apartments, Jersey Digs reported. All of the apartments will be affordable, and 25 percent of them, or 15 units, will be designated to individuals with mental illness, homelessness or disability.
