In March, YIMBY published an early rendering of the plans to redevelop Our Lady of Lourdes convent in Bushwick into affordable and supportive housing. Now more new building applications have been filed, and we have an updated look at two new buildings coming to the site.
Second Development Services has filed applications for a two-story, 33-foot-tall retail building spanning the vacant lots at 232-240 Smith Street, in northern Carroll Gardens. The building will have 10,000 square feet of commercial space, and OCV Architects is the architect of record. The site’s former single-story retail structure was demolished in 2007.
YIMBY brought you news of applications filed for a three-story, 19-unit residential building at 265 Van Brunt Street, in Red Hook, in March of 2014, and now Brownstoner has spotted the first renderings posted on site. Designed by OCV Architects, the building will actually be raised due to flooding concerns, and will appear as a four-story structure. The rental project is being developed by Cheever Development, and the site’s single-story predecessors have been demolished.
Homeless women’s non-profit WIN (Women in Need) has a new four-story office building in the works at 13 West 118th Street in central Harlem.
Harlem + Bespoke noticed progress on the renovation taking place at 801-807 St. Nicholas Avenue, on 150th Street in Sugar Hill. NYC Housing Preservation and Development is creating 42 affordable residential units within the six-story, 52,850 square-foot building, and OCV Architects is designing. The restoration appears almost complete, and opening is likely in the coming months.
