Four-Story, 51,900-Square-Foot School Expansion At P.S. 144 Col. Jeromus Remsen, 93-02 69th Avenue, Forest Hills

The New York City School Construction Authority (SCA) has filed applications for a four-story, 51,870-square-foot expansion of P.S. 144 Col. Jeromus Remsen at 93-02 69th Avenue, in Forest Hills. The 70-foot-tall structure will feature a cafeteria in the cellar, and classrooms on the ground through fourth floors. Administrative offices will be located on the ground floor. Midtown South-based Urbahn Architects is the architect of record. The expansion will be located at 69-20 Juno Street, likely where the school’s playground currently is. The SCA also recently filed for expansions at public schools in North Corona and Gowanus.


68-03 Roosevelt Avenue

Reveal For Universal Church’s New Five-Story, 79-Foot-Tall House of Worship At 68-03 Roosevelt Avenue, Woodside

A model has surfaced of the planned five-story, 63,341-square-foot church project at 68-03 Roosevelt Avenue, located on the corner of 69th Street in Woodside. The Universal Church of the Kingdom of God is currently seeking a variance from the Board of Standards and Appeals for the project, DNAinfo reported. The proposed structure would stand 79 feet tall and would include a house of worship, classrooms, multipurpose rooms, a recording studio, and 10 rectory units. A 150-car parking garage is also part of the plan. It would replace the congregation’s existing facility. Atlanta-based M3G Design is the architect of record. The 69th Street stop on the 7 train rumbles just above the street.


16-37 Central Avenue

New Two-Story, 31,800-Square-Foot Queens Library Branch Planned At 16-37 Central Avenue, Far Rockaway

The New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC) has filed applications for a new two-story, 31,779-square-foot Queens Library at Far Rockaway. The new building will be built on the site of the existing, single-story library branch, at 16-37 Central Avenue. The facility will feature a circulation and information center, meeting rooms, a business center, and individual children, teen, and adult sections. Snøhetta will be designing the project. The 25,877-square-foot site is located at the corner of Mott Avenue, three blocks from the Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue stop on the A train. Demolition permits have not been filed for the existing library.


3-31 St. Nicholas Avenue

Five-Story, 18-Unit Residential Building Planned At 3-31 St. Nicholas Avenue, Ridgewood

Brooklyn-based property owner Sal Mendolia has filed applications for a five-story, 18-unit residential building at 3-31 St. Nicholas Avenue, in Ridgewood. The project will measure 16,903 square feet with residential units averaging 681 square feet each, which indicates they will be rental apartments. Amenities include off-street parking for nine cars, storage for nine bicycles, private residential storage, laundry facilities, and a rooftop recreation space. Panagis Georgopoulos’s Flushing-based architecture firm is the architect of record. The 65-foot-wide, 6,127-square-foot assemblage is partially occupied by a dilapidated single-story building. Demolition permits haven’t been filed. The Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues stop on the M and L trains is three blocks away.


132-62 Pople Avenue

Four-Story, Five-Unit Mixed-Use Building Coming To 132-62 Pople Avenue, Flushing

An anonymous Brooklyn-based LLC has filed applications for a four-story, five-unit mixed-use building at 132-62 Pople Avenue, on the southern end of downtown Flushing. The project will measure 4,663 square feet. There will be a 999-square-foot daycare facility on the ground and cellar levels, followed by residential units on the floors above. The apartments should average 733 square feet apiece, indicative of rentals. Chark Yung’s Brooklyn-based UPC Engineering is the applicant of record. The 30-foot-wide, 1,729-square-foot lot is currently occupied by a two-story rowhome. Demolition permits haven’t been filed. The Flushing-Main Street stop on the 7 train is seven blocks away.
