Last week TF Cornerstone and RXR Realty, development partners of the Grand Hyatt New York redevelopment in Midtown East, announced a cultural program at 175 Park Avenue with New York City-based non-profit Public Art Fund and Lord Cultural Resources. This will include public art installations, community events, and programming inside and around the Skidmore Owings & Merrill-designed skyscraper.
Exterior work is continuing to progress on The Willoughby, a 34-story mixed-use building at 196 Willoughby Street on Long Island University‘s Brooklyn campus in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Perkins Eastman and developed by RXR Realty, the 435-foot-tall structure is also alternately addressed as 61 DeKalb Avenue and will bring a mix of residential units, academic and office spaces, a new adjacent athletic field, and parking for 564 vehicles. The Willoughby is bound by Willoughby Street to the north, Ashland Place to the east, DeKalb Avenue to the south, and Flatbush Avenue Extension to the west.
YIMBY spotted a new batch of renderings and diagrams that depict Skidmore Owings & Merrill‘s upcoming ground-up mixed-use supertall at 175 Park Avenue, aka Project Commodore. The 83-story Midtown East, Manhattan behemoth is slated to rise on the site of the Grand Hyatt between the 108-year old Beaux Arts style Grand Central Terminal and the 91-year-old Art Deco style Chrysler Building at the corner of East 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue. RXR Realty and TF Cornerstone are developing the massive structure, which also appears to have gotten a height reduction to 1,486 feet tall, as opposed to the 1,646-foot tall architectural height previously intended. Inside will be 500 Hyatt hotel rooms on the upper floors spanning 453,000 square feet; 10,000 square feet of retail space on the ground, cellar, and second levels; new elevated, publicly accessible plaza space overlooking the surrounding Midtown neighborhood; and 2.1 million square feet of Class A office space.
The Landmarks Preservation Commission approved Project Commodore, a proposed 1,646-foot supertall skyscraper in Midtown East, at a public hearing and vote on Tuesday, February 23, 2021. New renderings further illustrate the 83-story project, which would replace the Grand Hyatt at 175 Park Avenue and rise between the 108-year-old Beaux Arts Grand Central Terminal and the 91-year-old Art Deco Chrysler Building at the corner of East 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue. One Clinton Park, a new 28-story mixed-use tower has officially topped out in New Rochelle. Located at 55 Clinton Place, the building will contain 352 market rate apartments and introduce more than 13,000 square feet of retail space in the city’s downtown center.
