3 Saint Mark’s Place Readies for Construction in the East Village

YIMBY went to check out 3 St. Mark’s Place in the East Village, where an eight-story mixed-use office building is set to rise. Approved by the New York City’s Landmarks Preservation Commission in the summer of 2019, the nearly 54,000-square-foot project is designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by Real Estate Equities Corporation. In addition to construction of the new structure at the intersection of St. Mark’s Place and Third Avenue, plans also call for exterior alterations to an adjacent historic landmark at 4 Saint Mark’s Place, known as the Hamilton Holly House.

1230 Madison Avenue Nears the Halfway Mark on the Upper East Side

Construction is nearing the halfway mark at 1230 Madison Avenue, a Robert A.M. Stern Architects-designed residential building on the Upper East Side. The reinforced concrete superstructure is starting to reach the height of its abutting low-rise neighbors and will eventually top out at 208 feet tall. Located in Carnegie Hill on the same block as the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the 20-story project is being developed by Real Estate Equities Corporation (R.E.E.C.) with SLCE Architects as the architect of record.

Located on the corner of Third Avenue and St. Mark’s Place, the development caused contention over its proposed alterations to an adjacent historic landmark at 4 Saint Mark’s Place known as Hamilton Holly House.

Morris Adjmi Architects will appear yet again before the Landmarks Preservation Commission with proposals to construct a new mixed-use office development in the East Village. Located at 3 St. Mark’s Place, the property is positioned on the corner of 3rd Avenue and St. Mark’s Place. The draft proposals also include alterations to an existing structure at 4 St. Mark’s Place and the transfer of approximately 8,400 square feet of build rights to facilitate construction of the new office building.
