COOKFOX Returns to LPC With Alterations for Armani Flagship at 760 Madison Avenue

This week, COOKFOX Architects appeared before the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission with proposals to alter previously approved designs for the new Giorgio Armani flagship boutique and residences. Located at 760 Madison Avenue on the corner of East 65th Street, the new development will rise 12 stories. The Armani boutique will occupy the lower levels of the structure with 19 residences positioned above. Alterations pertain exclusively to the exterior massing and materials of the building’s façade and were reportedly inspired by existing historic properties in the surrounding Upper East Side neighborhood.

One Vanderbilt Reaches First Crowning Setback, in Midtown East

One Vanderbilt has reached a significant milestone in Midtown East. Construction has begun on the setbacks that will form the signature crown and hold the architectural spire for the supertall office building. White steel beams that make up the sloped top of the setback are visible on the western elevation, while the core walls are also rising and can be seen from a distance. Kohn Pedersen Fox is the architect and SL Green is the developer of the future 58-story tower, which will stand 1,401 feet when finished and yield nearly 1.75 million square feet of commercial space.

Permits Filed for 760 Madison Avenue on the Upper East Side, Manhattan

Permits have been filed for a 13-story mixed-use building at 752 Madison Avenue on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Located between East 65th Street and East 66th Street, the lot is four blocks south of the 68th Street subway station, serviced by the 4 and 6 trains. It is also four blocks north of the Lexington Av-63 Street subway station, serviced by the F, Q, and R trains. SL Green Realty Corp. is listed as the owner behind the applications. Last month YIMBY reported on the partnership between Giorgio Armani Corp. and SL Green Realty to create a new flagship boutique as well as a collection of luxury residences on the site.

One Vanderbilt Reaches Supertall Territory Above Midtown East, Manhattan

One Vanderbilt is officially the latest skyscraper in New York City to claim supertall status. Located at 41 East 42nd Street in Midtown East, the imminently 1,401-foot tall office building already soars above Grand Central Station, and new steel columns continue to sprout along the perimeter and core, having now punctured the 1,000-foot mark. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, the upcoming 58-story tower is being developed by SL Green and will span 1.75 million square feet.
