City Council Approves Sale For 344-Unit Redevelopment Of New York City Farm Colony, Staten Island

In late 2014, the Landmarks Preservation Commission approved the 45-acre residential redevelopment of the dilapidated 96-acre New York City Farm Colony campus, located centrally on Staten Island. Last week, the City Council approved plans to sell 45 acres of the property to NFC Associates, the New York Times reports. The Staten Island-based developer will rehabilitate five existing buildings, demolish five others, build 14 multi-unit townhouses, and also build three six-story residential buildings. Dubbed Landmark Colony, there will be a total of 344 condominiums, 34 of which will be sold at below-market rates, but all of which will be home to people 55 and older. Of the 45 redeveloped acres, 17 acres will be landscaped public space, and 17,000 square feet of commercial space is planned. Vengoechea & Boyland Architecture is designing, and units will begin to come online next year.


2131 Hylan Boulevard

11,000 Square-Foot Retail Project Planned At 2131 Hylan Boulevard, Grant City, Staten Island

The former Renaissance catering hall at 2131 Hylan Boulevard, in Staten Island’s south shore neighborhood of Grant City, is slated for demolition, according to Staten Island Live. The vacant two-story structure and the adjacent single-story Duane Reade will be demolished for a retail center. The property could accommodate a two-story, 11,000 square-foot commercial buildings. Architectural plans will be drawn up once Winick Realty Group chooses a specific tenant. It will include on-site parking and will be accessible from all three street fronts.

Nine Two-Family Detached Houses Planned At 567 Marcy Avenue, Woodrow, Staten Island

Staten Island-based Venmar Properties has filed applications for nine detached, two-family residential buildings at 567-591 Marcy Avenue and 75-79 Venus Place, in Woodrow, located on Staten Island’s southern end. The development site is a vacant stretch of Marcy Avenue between Woodrow Road and Venus Place, and each three-story house will measure an average 2,648 square feet. As you would expect, the units will be family-sized, with one unit located on the ground floor and the second taking up the upper two levels in each house. Staten Island-based Calvanico Associates is the architect of record.


131 Lynhurst Avenue

Five-Story, 85,000 Square-Foot Self Storage Building Filed At 131 Lynhurst Avenue, Rosebank

Staten Island-based Woodmont Development Corp. has filed applications for a five-story, 85,450 square-foot self-storage building at 131 Lynhurst Avenue, in Rosebank, located on Staten Island’s northern shore. It will include 58,788 square feet of commercial space, which is the rentable storage area within the project. Flushing-based David Silberman is the applicant of record. The 29,408 square-foot lot is currently vacant.
