Merchants Hospitality and Maplewood Senior Living are co-developing a 29-story, 213,000 square-foot residential facility for seniors at the corner of 2nd Avenue and East 93rd Street, in northern Yorkville. According to the New York Post, the four- and five-story tenement buildings spanning the lots 1802-1810 2nd Avenue and 303-305 East 93rd Street were acquired for a total $111 million over the course of two years. The buildings are expected to be demolished.
Upper East Side
The French government sold an eight-story brick townhouse at 1143 5th Avenue in the Upper East Side for the tidy sum of $36.4 million last November, and last week, the new owners filed applications to expand the building by five stories.
The Brearley School, a private all-girls prep school on the Upper East Side, is planning an expansion at 70-74 East End Avenue. Three five-story tenement buildings are set to be razed to make-way for an eight- to ten-story academic building measuring 75,000 to 85,000 square feet, according to Bloomberg Business. The school is currently in the process of receiving financing, and construction is expected to start in early 2017.
Tribeca-based developer DDG has just started construction on 180 East 88th Street, set to become the tallest tower above 72nd Street, when it tops out at 521 feet.
Property owner Michael D’Alessio, of Michael Paul Enterprises, has filed applications to horizontally and vertically expand (by one story) the five-story building at 184 East 64th Street on the Upper East Side. The planned six-story structure will have five residential units spread across 10,740 square feet of space, for an average unit of 2,150 square feet. The existing building is currently fit for three units, and Vail Associates is the applicant of record.
