17-Story, 43-Unit Residential Building Tops Out At 20 East End Avenue, Upper East Side

Earlier this year, construction kicked off on the 17-story, 43-unit residential building planned at 20 East End Avenue, between East 80th and 81st Street on the Upper East Side, and now the structure has topped out, per photos by Tectonic. Residential units will average just under 3,300 square feet apiece, ranging from two- to six-bedroom configurations. Installation of the brick façade is now underway above the second floor, and the bottom two floors will eventually be clad in limestone. Corigin Real Estate Group is developing, Robert A.M. Stern Architects is designing, and completion is expected next year.

Three-Story Expansion Of Chapin School At 100 East End Avenue Approved, Upper East Side

Late last year, the K-12, all-girls Chapin School, at 100 East End Avenue, on the Upper East Side between East 84th and 85th Streets, applied for a variance to expand their eight-story, 168-foot-tall academic building to 11 stories or 183 feet in height. The expansion would increase the existing building by nearly 38,000 square feet to 170,285 square feet, according to the DOB, and would include additional classrooms, a dining hall, and gym. Earlier this month, the Board of Standards and Appeals approved the expansion, per DNAinfo, and construction will begin early next year. Completion is expected by the end of 2018, and NK Architects is the architect of record.

Six-Unit Residential Conversion Of Three-Story Building At 327 East 84th Street, Yorkville

Manhattan Residential has acquired the three-story commercial building at 327 East 84th Street, in Yorkville, for $11.8 million and plans to convert and expand the property into residential units, according to Commercial Observer. The building measures 11,583 square feet, but roughly 5,000 square feet of unused development rights exist. Five or six condominiums are planned, which would average roughly 2,000 to 3,000 square feet. Ariel Property Advisors brokered the deal.

350 East 86th Street

Extell To Expand Assemblage With 350 East 86th Street Purchase, Upper East Side

Extell Development is in contract to purchase the single-story grocery store at 350 East 86th Street, on the Upper East Side, for $100 million, Crain’s reports. The developer also owns neighboring sites, and can build a 20-story, 230,000 square-foot condominium building, with 200 units and retail space. The acquisition is expected to close next year, also when Gristedes’ lease expires. Extell’s plans have yet to be disclosed, and assemblage could be expanded with further acquisitions.

316 East 81st Street

Six-Story, Six-Unit Residential Building Filed At 316 East 81st Street, Upper East Side

The head of the Midtown-based law firm King & Spalding has filed applications for a six-story, six-unit residential building at 316 East 81st Street, on the Upper East Side, in Yorkville. The building will measure 11,660 square feet in total, and units will likely be condominiums, averaging 1,943 square feet apiece. Issac & Stern is designing, and an old three-story townhouse must first be demolished; the building was purchased in 2012 for $3.2 million.
