Revealed: Two-Towered, 300-Unit Mixed-Use Project Proposed at 177 Grand Street, Jersey City

A rendering has been revealed of a two-towered project planned at 177 Grand Street, located in the Paulus Hook section of downtown Jersey City. Plans presented to the Historic Paulus Hook Association last week call for a 22-story building along Grand Street and a 16-story building along Sussex Street. There will be between 275 and 300 market-rate rental apartments, in addition to retail space and a 150-car parking garage.

Liberty Science Center Moves Forward With Plans for SciTech Scity Academic Complex, Jersey City

The Liberty Science Center is moving forward with plans to develop an eight-story, 400,000-square-foot mixed-use academic complex on the 16-acre site at 222 Jersey City Boulevard, in Jersey City’s Liberty Harbor section. Dubbed SciTech Scity, it will include the Liberty Science K-12 school, which will likely consist of charter, vocational, and/or private schools, Jersey Digs reported. There will also be roughly 160,000 square feet of research and collaborative office space, called Edge Works.

Mayor de Blasio Unveils Development Plans for Applied Life Sciences Campus Along East River

Mayor Bill de Blasio has disclosed development plans for the Applied Life Sciences Campus, to be built at an undetermined site located along the East River, either in Manhattan or Queens. The city is expected to pump $100 million into the project, Commercial Observer reported. The facility would be geared towards research, development, and training in bioengineering. The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) is anticipating to release a request for expressions of interest next year, with a goal to complete the project by 2021.

Academic Leadership Charter School Files for Seven-Story Facility at 356 East 139th Street, Mott Haven

The Academic Leadership Charter School has filed applications for a seven-story, 84,850-square-foot facility at 356 East 139th Street, in the South Bronx’s Mott Haven section. The new building will feature a 34-car parking garage on the cellar levels; a gymnasium, a nurse’s office, and administrative offices on the ground floor, with additional administrative offices and meeting rooms on the second floor; a cafeteria, auditorium, and playground on the third floor; and a library on the fourth floor, with classrooms for various disciplines across the fourth through seventh floors. Stamford, Conn.-based Partners For Architecture is the architect of record. The 12,500-square-foot lot is vacant.


412 East 90th Street

Spence School Plans Six-Story, 56,700-Square-Foot Expansion at 412 East 90th Street, Upper East Side

The Spence School, a private, all-girls school for grades K-12 on the Upper East Side, has filed applications for a six-story, 56,720-square-foot building at 412 East 90th Street, located in Manhattan’s Yorkville section. The facility appears to be geared towards athletics, featuring a two-story gymnasium, squash courts, an exercise room, training rooms, locker rooms, and laundry facilities. There will also be a administrative offices on the ground and third floors, a student cafe on the third floor, and a single classroom and a greenhouse on the sixth floor. The 83-foot-tall structure will be designed by Rogers Partners Architects. The 150-foot-wide, 15,000-square-foot site is occupied by a two-story parking garage. Demolition permits have not been filed.
