It was back in June that YIMBY brought you news of a new apartment building planned for downtown Jamaica. Now, we can show you what the eight-story structure at 178-02 Hillside Avenue will look like and we can also tell you its unit count has increased.
Prospect Place between New York and Brooklyn Avenues is set to receive a new apartment building, but not before at least one more meeting of the Landmarks Preservation Commission. At its session last Tuesday, the LPC did not approve the proposed four-story plus penthouse structure at 906 Prospect Place. That’s in the Crown Heights North Historic District II. At issue were certain details and articulation along with the height of rooftop mechanical elements.
Last fall, Brownstoner reported that developer Jeffrey Gershon had picked up a fairly large lot at 906 Prospect Place in Crown Heights for $3,500,000. Now he’s filed a new building application to erect a five-story condo building on the plot between New York and Brooklyn Avenues.
Small residential developments have begun arriving on the edge of downtown Jamaica, but YIMBY has seen few projects as large as the eight-story mixed-use building planned for 178-02 Hillside Avenue.
