540 Hudson Street Nears Completion in Greenwich Village, Manhattan

Exterior work is nearing completion on 540 Hudson Street, a seven-story residential building in Greenwich Village. The building was designed by Morris Adjmi Architects who received approval by the Landmarks Preservation Commission. BKSK Architects adapted the design and are nearing completion of the 63-foot-tall structure for developers Aurora Capital Associates and William Gottlieb Real Estate. Inside will be 19 units spread across 48,535 square feet as well as 6,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor and cellar levels. Titanium Construction Services is the general contractor and Belden Tri-State Building Materials is the brick supplier for the property, which is also addressed as 111 Charles Street and is located at the corner of Hudson and Charles Streets.

341 West 38th Street Climbs Above the Garment District in Midtown, Manhattan 

Construction is progressing on 341 West 38th Street, a 19-story residential building in the Garment District of Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Stephen B. Jacobs Group and developed by Central Properties LLC, the project consists of the renovation and vertical expansion of an existing 12-story structure and the construction of a new addition on the narrow parcel to its east. The combined building will stand 212 feet tall and yield 112 units spread across 82,000 square feet, as well as a 7,300-square-foot cellar level. KSF Services is the general contractor for the property, which is located between Eighth and Ninth Avenues.

Construction nears completion on The Apsley, a 19-story residential building at 2330 Broadway on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Designed by SLCE Architects with interiors by Champalimaud Design and developed by Welltower and Hines, the structure yields 76 assisted living and 80 memory care apartments in studio to two-bedroom layouts, with a total capacity of 178 residents. Hunter Roberts Construction Group served as the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of Broadway and West 85th Street.

Memorial Sloan Kettering Files Plans for 31-Story Skyscraper at 1233 York Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

Earlier this week, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) filed plans to construct the MSK Pavilion, a new 31-story inpatient hospital building at 1233 York Avenue in the Lenox Hill section of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed in collaboration by CannonDesign and Foster + Partners, the structure could rise up to 594 feet tall and yield 900,000 square feet for inpatient clinical care (cancer care and surgery). The MSK Pavilion will replace an old building housing medical student residences and administrative offices on a plot bound by East 67th Street to the north, East 66th Street to the south, and York Avenue and Rockefeller University to the east.

Tiffany & Co. Flagship’s Renovation and Expansion Wraps Up at 727 Fifth Avenue in Midtown, Manhattan

Work is nearing completion on the renovation of the Tiffany & Co. flagship store, a ten-story commercial building at 727 Fifth Avenue in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by OMA partners Shohei Shigematsu and Jake Forster with interiors by Peter Marino Architects, the project involved the construction of a new three-story volume above the parapet of the 83-year-old structure, as well as 8,400 square feet of interior renovations. CallisonRTKL is the architect of record, WSP is the structural and MEP engineer, Mace is the owners rep, and Structure Tone is the general contractor for the project, which is located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street along Billionaires’ Row.
