Two Manhattan West’s Glass Façade Nears Completion in Midtown West, Manhattan

Façade work is nearing completion on Two Manhattan West, a 58-story commercial skyscraper in the Manhattan West master plan in Midtown West. Designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill and developed by Brookfield, the 935-foot-tall tower will yield 2 million square feet of office space and is engineered to achieve LEED Gold Certification. W&W Glass is the facade contractor and AECOM Tishman is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of West 31st Street and Ninth Avenue, directly to the south of its taller fraternal twin, One Manhattan West. YIMBY last announced that Cravath, Swaine & Moore has signed on as the flagship tenant for the building.

Work is progressing below grade for the Hudson Arts Building, a ten-story commercial structure at 220 Eleventh Avenue in West Chelsea. Designed by STUDIOS Architecture and developed by The Moinian Group, the project is located along Eleventh Avenue between West 25th Street and West 26th Streets. 220 Eleventh, LLC is the owner, AECOM Tishman is the general contractor, and JLL is the exclusive leasing agent for the Midtown, Manhattan property.

The Willoughby Celebrates Grand Opening at 196 Willoughby Street in Downtown Brooklyn

YIMBY attended the ribbon cutting ceremony marking the grand opening of The Willoughby, a 34-story mixed-use tower at 196 Willoughby Street on Long Island University‘s Downtown Brooklyn campus. Designed by Perkins Eastman and developed by RXR Realty, the 445-foot-tall structure yields 476 residential units ranging from studios to two-bedrooms, as well as new academic and office spaces, an adjacent athletic field to the east, and parking for 564 vehicles directly below. Hunter Roberts Construction Group served as the general contractor for the Brooklyn project, which is bound by Willoughby Street to the north, Ashland Place to the east, DeKalb Avenue to the south, and Flatbush Avenue Extension to the west. The building dedicates 30 percent of units as rent stabilized apartments for middle-income households.

YIMBY attended a topping-out ceremony for 122 Fifth Avenue, a 11-story commercial building expansion in Union Square. Designed by STUDIOS Architecture and developed by Bromley Companies, the 300,000-square-foot project involves the erection of a one-story steel-framed addition above the parapet of the landmarked building, as well as the construction of a reinforced concrete annex that will expand the property’s T-shaped footprint along West 17th Street. Microsoft has signed on as the anchor tenant for the office space, and athleisure company Allbirds will occupy the retail space. Omnibuld is the general contractor for the Midtown, Manhattan property.

One Madison Avenue’s Concrete Core Begins Ascent in Flatiron District, Manhattan

Construction is set to begin on the new floors at One Madison Avenue, a 27-story office tower expansion in Manhattan’s Flatiron District. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox for SL Green, the project involves the gut renovation of the existing eight-story building and structural addition above its roof level, bringing the structure up to 1.4 million square feet of Class A office space. The National Pension Service of Korea and Hines are also part of the development team and acquired $1.25 billion in construction financing for the property, which occupies a full block bound by East 23rd and 24th Streets and Madison Avenue and Park Avenue South.
