Jasper Progresses at 2-33 50th Avenue in Long Island City, Queens

Construction is rising on Jasper, a 13-story residential building at 2-33 50th Avenue in Long Island City, Queens. Designed by S9 Architecture and developed by The Domain Companies, LMXD, and The Vorea Group, the 125-foot-tall structure will span 550,000 square feet and yield 499 units in studio to three-bedroom layouts with 150 reserved for affordable housing, as well as 40,000 square feet of retail space, 503 square feet for a community facility that will be built as part of the Brownfield Award, 111 enclosed parking spaces, and a 30-foot-long rear yard. Congress Builders is the general contractor for the $370 million project, which is alternately addressed as 49-20 5th Street and bound by 49th Avenue to the north, 50th Avenue to the south, and 5th Street to the east.

The Italic’s Glass Curtain Wall Progresses at 26-32 Jackson Avenue in Long Island City, Queens

The 14th-tallest building on our year-end countdown is The Italic, a 526-foot-tall residential skyscraper at 26-32 Jackson Avenue in Long Island City, Queens. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by American Lions, a joint venture between Fetner Properties and NY Lions Group, the 50-story structure will span 384,043 square feet and yield 363 rental units in studio to three-bedroom layouts, with 109 reserved for affordable housing, as well as 19,923 square feet of commercial space. Hunter Roberts Construction Group is the general contractor for the property, which is bound by Dutch Kills Street and an elevated roadway of the Queensboro Bridge to the northeast and Purves Street to the southwest.

606 West 30th Street Wraps Up Construction in West Chelsea, Manhattan

Construction wraps up on 606 West 30th Street, a 42-story residential skyscraper along the border of Hudson Yards and West Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by Ismael Leyva Architects and developed by Lalezarian Properties, the 545-foot-tall structure spans 312,350 square feet with 192,780 square feet of residential space and 14,240 square feet of commercial space on the lower levels. The tower is also known as Tower B in a two-skyscraper development along with the taller 3ELEVEN from FXCollaborative and Douglaston Development at 601 West 29th Street, which is already complete. Hudson 37 LLC is the general contractor for the property, which is located on an interior lot between Eleventh Avenue and West Street, directly across from the third phase of the High Line.

550 Tenth Avenue Tops Out in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan

At number 15 on our year-end countdown of the tallest buildings under construction in New York is 550 Tenth Avenue, a 520-foot-tall residential skyscraper in Hell’s Kitchen. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Gotham Organization and Goldman Sachs Asset Management JV, the 47-story structure will span 430,000 square feet and yield 453 rental units, with 137 reserved for affordable housing, as well as 9,000 square feet of lower-level retail space, over 20,000 square feet of amenities, and 26,764 square feet of administrative office space for Covenant House. GO Covenant LLC is the owner and Monadnock Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located along Tenth Avenue between West 40th and 41st Streets.

Brazilian Missionary Church’s 39-26 30th Street Tops Out In Dutch Kills, Queens

Construction has topped out on 39-26 30th Street, an 11-story residential building in Dutch Kills, Queens. The ground-up structure will yield and undisclosed number of affordable housing units and a new religious facility for the Brazilian Missionary Church, which already occupied the site between 39th and 40th Avenues. 39-26 Property LLC is listed as the owner and JLS Group Construction LLC is listed as the general contractor. An architect for the project was not publicly disclosed.

Excavation, Pilings Continue for 517-Foot Skyscraper at 30-25 Queens Boulevard in Long Island City, Queens

The 16th-tallest building on our annual year-end construction countdown is 30-25 Queens Boulevard, a 517-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper in Long Island City, Queens. Designed by CetraRuddy Architecture and developed by LargaVista Companies under the 30-25 Queens Boulevard Tenant LLC, the 46-story structure will span 1,293,315 square feet and yield 561 condominium units with an average scope of 1,464 square feet, as well as 471,673 square feet of commercial space and a cellar level. The building will rise from a 25,177-square-foot lot known as QPX that comprises 30-25 Queens Boulevard, 29-10 Northern Boulevard, and 29-14 Queens Plaza East. Leeding Builders Group is the general contractor for the project, which is located at the corner of Queens Boulevard East and Queens Boulevard, directly west of the Sunnyside Yards rail tracks.

Façade Work Takes Shape on 1,098-Unit Skyscraper at 625 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn

At number 17 on our year-end countdown of the tallest buildings under construction in New York is 625 Fulton Street, a 500-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Fischer Rasmussen Whitefield Architects and developed by Rabsky Group with $450 million in construction financing from Madison Realty Capital, the 35-story structure will yield 1,098 rental units, 26,000 square feet of retail space on the lower levels, and an on-site parking garage for 250 vehicles. Galaxy Developers is the general contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 485 Hudson Avenue and bound by the 34-story 80 DeKalb Avenue to the north, Fulton Street to the south, Rockwell Place to the east, and Hudson Avenue to the west.

Excavation Underway for 36-Story Skyscraper at 255 East 77th Street on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

The 18th-tallest building on our year-end construction countdown is 255 East 77th Street, a 500-foot-tall residential skyscraper in the Lenox Hill section of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Developed by Naftali Group with Hill West Architects as the architect of record, the 36-story structure will span 170,481 square feet and yield 62 condominium units, as well as 3,861 square feet of retail space, two cellar levels, and 33 enclosed parking spaces. 255 East 77th St Owner LP is listed as the owner and New Line Structures & Development is the general contractor for the project, which is alternately addressed as 1481 Second Avenue and located at the corner of Second Avenue and East 77th Street.

The Alloy Block’s 505 State Street Approaches Completion in Downtown Brooklyn

At number 19 on our year-end countdown of the tallest buildings under construction in New York is 505 State Street, a 482-foot-tall residential tower in The Alloy Block complex in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed and developed by Alloy Development, the 44-story structure will yield 441 rental units, with 45 reserved for affordable housing, and will be fully powered by electricity. The five-building Alloy Block master plan will comprise a total of 850 units with 200 permanently affordable apartments, 100,000 square feet of Class A office space, 50,000 square feet of retail space, 500 bicycle parking spaces, two Passive House public schools designed by Architecture Research Office, and space for a local cultural institution. Urban Atelier Group is the general contractor for 505 State Street, which was formerly addressed as 100 Flatbush Avenue and is bound by Flatbush Avenue to the northeast, Third Avenue to the northwest, and State Street to the southwest.

58 West 39th Street Resumes Construction in Midtown, Manhattan

The 20th-tallest building on our year-end construction countdown is 58 West 39th Street, a 475-foot-tall hotel tower in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Marin Architects and developed by Wei Hong Hu of H Hotel LLC, the 42-story structure will yield 177 guest rooms and amenities including a restaurant and an outdoor bar. City Cross Construction Corp. is the general contractor for the property, which is located on a narrow plot between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, one block below Bryant Park.
