Last month, DNAinfo reported that the struggling Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Williamsburg had leased its large property to Watermark Capital, and the agreement had some unusual stipulations, banning “activities associated with abortion, birth control, euthanasia, stem-cell research or pornography.” Now plans have been filed to erect a 19-story apartment building at 321 Wythe Avenue, on the western half of the through-block church property.

Robert Moses irrevocably altered Sunset Park when he ran the Gowanus Expressway down Third Avenue, turning a once-vibrant commercial corridor into a forlorn industrial area covered by a steel and concrete highway. But just a few blocks north in Gowanus, some prewar charm remains in between the auto repair shops and fast food joints.

Midwood is quietly experiencing a boom in residential development, and earlier this week, new building applications were filed for a seven-story residential building at 1533 East 19th Street, in the heart of the almost-suburban Brooklyn neighborhood.

Stagg Group Plans Another in the Bronx: 3084 Webster Avenue, Norwood

After 50,000 tenants applied to live in the affordable apartments at Stagg Group’s first project in Norwood, Bedford Park Manor, the Bronx developer paid $4.1 million for a property only a few blocks north at 3084 Webster Avenue. Now they’ve filed plans to build an 11-story apartment building on the L-shaped lot between 202nd and 203rd Streets.

In February, glassy renderings surfaced for a 12-story apartment building at 29 Clay Street in Greenpoint. Now the project has taken one more step toward reality with a new building application for a 60-unit development on the property between Manhattan Avenue and Franklin Street.

New Look: School to Condo Conversion at 34 Prince Street

The lovely 19th century building at the corner of Prince and Mott Streets in Nolita has been an orphanage, a school, and a convent, but now a developer has begun transforming the landmarked structure into condos. Today, YIMBY has a new rendering of the structure’s restored facade, as well as a series of images based on historic photographs of the property at 34 Prince Street.

IFC Center Expansion to 14-16 Cornelia Street Nears LPC Approval

The IFC Center movie theater on Sixth Avenue (at West 3rd Street) is one step closer to an expansion that would double the number of screens and alleviate crowding on the sidewalk. This would be accomplished by expanding to an empty lot located behind it at 14-16 Cornelia Street. On Tuesday, the proposal went before the Landmarks Preservation Commission and the commissioners could have approved the upper floors, but wanted more work done at street level.

New Renderings for 325 West Broadway, aka Xoco 325, in Soho

Construction is nearly complete at 325 West Broadway in Soho, where a ten-story condo building has replaced part of a brick chocolate factory. Developer and design firm DDG has just launched sales, and they’ve sent along a few new renderings of the project, which was christened Xoco 325 in June.

Upper East Side Townhouse at 39 East 67th Street Getting Glassy Rear Redo

A townhouse that dates back to the 19th century will be getting a decidedly modern rear, thanks to Tuesday’s approval from the Landmarks Preservation Commission. The five-story home at 39 East 67th Street, in the East Side Historic District, will be getting an entirely new rear facade, a reconfigured roof, and restorative work on the front facade.
