Extell’s 570 Fifth Avenue Supertall Awaits Excavation in Midtown, Manhattan

Demolition is complete at 570 Fifth Avenue, the site of a potential 1,101-foot mixed-use supertall in the Diamond District of Midtown, Manhattan. Developed by Extell, the project could either unfold as a 78-story, 1.4-million-square-foot hotel and condominium tower or as an 860-foot-tall, 47-story office skyscraper yielding more than 1.5 million square feet. ALBA Services was the demolition contractor for the property, which spans between West 46th and West 47th Streets.

Demolition Finishes for SOM-Designed Skyscraper at 415 Madison Avenue in Midtown East, Manhattan

415 Madison Avenue recently completed on-site demolition for an upcoming 40-story commercial skyscraper in Midtown East. Designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill and owned by Rudin Management under the 415 Madison Avenue LLC, the 605-foot-tall replacement will yield a total of 343,100 square feet of new office space, a 350-square-foot ground-floor retail pavilion, and a 2,400-square-foot open-air public concourse. The ground-up project is being constructed in compliance with the East Midtown sub-district regulations, alongside the use of air rights that were previously purchased from the landmarked St. Bartholomew’s Church along Park Avenue. PAL Environmental Services served as the former general contractor but now AECOM Tishman is the new general contractor for the Midtown, Manhattan property, which is located at the corner of Madison Avenue and East 48th Street.

555 Greenwich Nears Completion in Hudson Square, Manhattan

Exterior work nears completion on 555 Greenwich, a 16-story commercial building in Hudson Square. Designed by COOKFOX Architects and developed by Hudson Square Properties, a joint venture by Trinity Church Wall Street, Hines, and Norges Bank Investment Management, the 270,000-square-foot structure connects to the adjacent 345 Hudson Street via a horizontal overbuild to yield a combined 715,000 square feet of office space. Tishman Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is bound by King Street to the north, Charlton Street to the south, and Greenwich Street to the west.

Excavation and Piling Work Begins at 25-01 Queens Plaza North in Long Island City, Queens

Below-grade work is progressing at 25-01 Queens Plaza North, the site of a 26-story residential building in Long Island City, Queens. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Grubb Properties, which purchased the property for $63 million in 2021, the 311-foot-tall structure will yield 417 units with 124 reserved for affordable housing, as well as 7,600 square feet of ground-floor retail space. 25-01 QPN Consigli Construction is the general contractor and King Contracting Group is responsible for brick and CMU installation at the project, which is located between Crescent and 27th Streets, directly adjacent to the elevated Queensboro Plaza station servicing the 7, N, and W trains.

Construction Stalls on 33-Story Hotel at 255 West 34th Street in Midtown, Manhattan

Construction appears stalled at 255 West 34th Street, a 33-story hotel tower in Midtown, Manhattan, following a $481 million loan default by former developer The Chetrit Group late last year. Designed by Stonehill Taylor Architects, the 397-foot-tall structure was planned to yield 330 hotel rooms spread across 155,594 square feet. Flintlock Construction Services is the general contractor for the project, which is located between Seventh and Eighth Avenues on the southern edge of the Garment District.

Foundations Underway For Queens’ Tallest Skyscraper at 27-48 Jackson Avenue in Long Island City

Foundations are taking shape at 27-48 Jackson Avenue, site of a 69-story residential skyscraper in Long Island City‘s Court Square district. Designed by Perkins Eastman and developed by Building Orchard LLC, the 811-foot-tall tower will claim the title of tallest building in Queens and yield 635,000 square feet with 818 residential units, 11,700 square feet of retail space, and a two-story parking garage in the podium. Triton Construction Company is the general contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 43-01 Queens Street and occupies a full city block along Jackson Avenue between Queens and Orchard Streets.

40-09 29th Street Rises Above Street Level in Long Island City, Queens

Construction is rising above street level on 40-09 29th Street, a five-story mixed-use building in Long Island City, Queens. Designed by Design Group In H&K LLC and developed by Gang W. Realty, the 66-foot-tall structure will span 27,850 square feet and yield 20 units spread across 14,950 square feet, as well as 5,655 square feet of ground-floor retail space, a 7,244-square-foot cellar level, and 4,775 square feet of enclosed parking space for 13 vehicles. World Hub Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located between 40th Avenue and 40th Road.

Gotham Point’s North Tower Completes Construction in Hunters Point South, Queens

Construction is complete on Gotham Point’s north tower, a 57-story residential skyscraper at 1-15 57th Avenue in Hunters Point South, Queens. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Gotham Organization and Riseboro Community Partnership, the 559-foot-tall structure yields 692 rental units and is also known as Parcel F in a two-tower master plan alongside its shorter 33-story, 443-foot-tall sibling, Parcel G. The property is bound by Center Boulevard to the north, 56th Avenue to the east, and 57th Avenue to the west.

317-319 West 35th Street Tops Out in the Garment District in Midtown, Manhattan

Construction has topped out on 317-319 West 35th Street, a 25-story hotel building in Midtown’s Garment District. Designed by Peter Poon Architects and developed by Wei Hong Hu under the H Hotel LLC, the 249-foot-tall structure will yield 59,250 square feet with 166 hotel rooms, 3,399 square feet of commercial space, and three below-grade levels. Crosscity Construction Corporation is the general contractor for the property, which is located between Eighth and Ninth Avenues.

Gemma Gramercy Nears Completion at 202 East 23rd Street in Gramercy, Manhattan

Construction nears completion on Gemma Gramercy, a 20-story residential building at 202 East 23rd Street in Gramercy Park, Manhattan. Designed by Hill West Architects and developed by SMA Equities, the 233-foot-tall structure is engineered to Passive House standards and will yield 95,000 square feet with 108 rental apartments in studio to two-bedroom layouts, with 28 units designated for affordable housing. KSK Construction Group is the general contractor and REAL New York is leading marketing for the project, which is located at the corner of East 23rd Street and Third Avenue on the border with Kips Bay.
