Permits have been filed for an eight-story affordable senior housing structure at 64 Scholes Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The site is within walking distance to three different subway stations, collectively providing access to the G, J, L, M, and Z trains. Alex Arker of the Arker Companies is responsible for the development.
Redevelopments with thousands of residential units aren’t particularly common in New York City, however, the past several months have brought proposals for such projects to ULURP from several locations, including the tentative 1,642-unit expansion of Lenox Terrace, in Harlem. Today, YIMBY has the first look at plans for 2,200 new units proposed for the former Peninsula Hospital site, in Edgemere, Queens.
New permits have been filed for a mixed-use building at 894 Fountain Street, in East New York, Brooklyn. The extant multi-building complex is owned by the State of New York and was previously the home of the Brooklyn Developmental Center.
Back in July of 2015, YIMBY reported on initial new building applications for 40 Debevoise Street, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Now, new permits have been pulled, indicating the site will grow substantially larger than first reported, with its height increasing from four floors to eight, and the total square footage roughly doubling.
Coney Island is currently seeing a resurgence in development both big and small, and today, YIMBY has the first details for a proposal by Arker Companies for a new building at 2828 West 28th Street, submitted in a rezoning dubbed Sea Park North, in the northern blocks of the neighborhood.
