Jersey City has been selected by the Biden Administration as one of 13 cities across America to participate in Local Foods, Local Places (LFLP), a federal partnership program. The initiative will support efforts on the community level to use the local food economy to improve quality of life, protect the environment, and reinvest in existing neighborhoods.
Jersey City officials recently celebrated the commencement of construction on the city’s new public safety headquarters. Located within the expanding Jackson Square municipal complex in Bergen-Lafayette, the 11-story structure will occupy a parcel at the corner of Martin Luther King Drive and Kearny Avenue.
Residents are now beginning occupancy at ‘BeLa’ one of the latest rental properties to debut in Jersey City. Designed by Minno Wasko Architects and Planning, the building contains 99 units and amenity spaces.
Leasing is underway at BeLa, a new rental property at 74 Maple Street in the Bergen-Lafayette neighborhood of Jersey City. Designed by Minno Wasko Architects and Planning and developed by Golden Glades Capital Management, the building represents mounting interest in areas surrounding the downtown metro center where rents have risen in step with the city’s growing skyline.
Clifton, N.J.-based BuildPro Construction is proposing a four-story, nine-unit mixed-use project at 712 Grand Street, located in Jersey City’s Bergen-Lafayette section. It will contain 500 square feet of commercial space and a 1,296-square-foot parking garage on the ground floor, followed by nine market-rate rental apartments on the floors above. A five-year tax exemption has already been granted by the city, Jersey Digs reported. A construction timeline has not been revealed at this time.
