Liberty Science Center Moves Forward With Plans for SciTech Scity Academic Complex, Jersey City

The Liberty Science Center is moving forward with plans to develop an eight-story, 400,000-square-foot mixed-use academic complex on the 16-acre site at 222 Jersey City Boulevard, in Jersey City’s Liberty Harbor section. Dubbed SciTech Scity, it will include the Liberty Science K-12 school, which will likely consist of charter, vocational, and/or private schools, Jersey Digs reported. There will also be roughly 160,000 square feet of research and collaborative office space, called Edge Works.

Three-Story, Six-Unit Residential Building Planned at 1321 Richmond Road, Dongan Hills

A Staten Island-based property owner has filed applications for a three-story, six-unit residential building at 1321 Richmond Road in Dongan Hills, located along Staten Island’s East Shore. The project will measure 4,870 square feet and its residential units should average 812 square feet apiece. The apartments will be condominiums for persons 55 years old or older. There will also be 10 off-street parking spaces. Staten Island-based Rampulla Associates Architects is the architect of record. The 9,742-square-foot site is vacant. The Board of Standards and Appeals must approve the project.


515 West 29th Street

11-Story, 12-Unit Mixed-Use Building Tops Out at 515 West 29th Street, Chelsea

The 11-story, 12-unit mixed-use building under construction at 515 West 29th Street, in West Chelsea, has topped out. Progress on the project, which includes façade installation, can be seen thanks to photos posted to the YIMBY Forums. The latest building permits indicate the structure, built up from an existing six-story factory, encompasses 36,876 square feet and rises 135 feet in height. It will include 1,698 square feet of retail space across the cellar and ground floors, followed by 12 condominiums across the second through 11th floors. The apartments should average a spacious 2,932 square feet apiece. Bauhouse Group is the developer. SCDA Architects is the design architect and S.M. Berger Architecture is the architect of record.


191 Harrison Avenue

Mixed-Use Project with Residential Units Planned at 191 Harrison Avenue, Williamsburg

Developer Abraham Brach has acquired, for $27.5 million, the 30,000-square-foot development site at 191 Harrison Avenue, located between Bartlett and Gerry streets in the Broadway Triangle section of Williamsburg. The new owner plans to build a mixed-use project with community facility space, geared toward the Orthodox Jewish community, and residential units, The Real Deal reported. The site can accommodate up to 120,000 square feet of development. It’s occupied by multiple dilapidated, low-rise commercial-warehouses, ranging from one to three stories. Demolition permits have yet to be filed.


40 East Park Street

Four-Story, 15-Unit Residential Redevelopment Planned at 40 East Park Street, Newark

An anonymous Passaic, N.J.-based LLC is planning to redevelop the vacant three-story townhouse at 40 East Park Street, located on the corner of Mulberry Street in Downtown Newark. The existing structure will be converted from office space and expanded horizontally along Mulberry street. The final product will rise four stories at its tallest point and contain 15 market-rate residential units. The apartments, including studios and one-bedrooms, should average 750 square feet apiece, Jersey Digs reported. Newark-based Comito Associates is the architect. The project is expected to be complete in late 2018.
