Eight-Story, 59-Unit Apartment Building Rises At 152-09 88th Avenue, Jamaica

Earlier this year, YIMBY revealed renderings of the Chetrit Group’s planned residential redevelopment of the former Mary Immaculate Hospital campus at 150-13 89th Avenue, in Jamaica. The project includes the addition of 324 residential units, but right across the street, the same developer is first building an unassociated eight-story, 59-unit apartment building that measures 45,606 square feet. Located at 152-09 88th Avenue, two blocks from the Parsons Boulevard stop on the E and F trains, the structure is currently five stories above street level, according to Commercial Observer. It recently received an $11 million construction loan. Goldstein, Hill & West Architects is designing both of Chetrit’s projects.


550 Madison Avenue

First Look At Hotel-Condo Conversion Of 37-Story Sony Tower At 550 Madison Avenue, Midtown

Back in 2013, Chetrit Group acquired the 37-story, 855,000 square-foot office building at 550 Madison Avenue, between East 55th and 56th Streets in Midtown, for $1.1 billion. Now the developer has released a partial rendering and details of the planned conversion of the building known as Sony Tower and previously the AT&T Building, per Curbed. Floors 21 through 43 will be converted into 113 condominiums and the lower portion of the building will contain a 170-key hotel, featuring 60 suites and a slew of amenities. Robert A.M. Stern Architects is designing, and completion is expected in early 2018. The Philip Johnson-designed tower originally opened in 1984.

Seven-Story, 155-Unit Condo Conversion Planned At 416 West 52nd Street, Hell’s Kitchen

Gaia Real Estate is planning to convert the seven-story former St. Vincent’s hospital building at 416 West 52nd Street, in Hell’s Kitchen, into 155 condominiums. The roughly 156,000 square-foot building will boast relatively affordable units averaging about 1,000 square feet and starting at $1 million. The vacant building was acquired from the Chetrit Group back in August for $156.5 million. Earlier this year, the Chetrit Group converted the building into 156 rental apartments. [The Real Deal]

Façade Wraps Up At Seven-Story, 11-Unit Condo Building At 10 Bond Street, NoHo

Nearly a year ago, YIMBY brought you a construction update on 10 Bond Street, in NoHo, where a seven-story, 11-unit condominium building is being constructed. At that point, the concrete shell had been completed and the façade’s terra cotta was beginning to be installed. Today, we know the exterior of the structure is completely installed, courtesy of photography by Tectonic. SK Development, Ironstate Development and the Chetrit Group are the developers, and Annabelle Selldorf is the designer. Occupancy is expected later this year.

Dime Bank Acquisition Pushes Plans At 340 Flatbush Ave Extension Past 1000′ Mark, DoBro

Michael Stern’s JDS Development, partnered with Chetrit Group, is planning to acquire the landmarked Dime Savings Bank building at 9 Dekalb Avenue, in Downtown Brooklyn, for $90 million, according to Crain’s. The building could be converted to accommodate retail, but roughly 300,000 square feet of unused air rights can now be transferred to the team’s site at 340 Flatbush Avenue Extension.
