The City Council has unanimously approved the controversial 80 Flatbush project in Boerum Hill after a reduction in size and scale. While the drop in density is not ideal, the the buildings will still be a large player for the housing market and community at large, and will punctuate the neighborhood’s skyline with two new towers that appear both prominent and promising in terms of design.
Permits have been filed for a nine-story mixed-use building at 37-00 24th Street in Astoria, Queens. The site is eight blocks away from 36th Avenue subway station, serviced by the N and W trains. Lin Jieng Zhang is listed as responsible for the development.
Permits have been filed for a five-story residential and museum building at 47-11 90th Street, an unusually positioned lot between a row of extant structures and an elevated subway track in Elmhurst, Queens. The Grand Avenue-Newtown subway station is five blocks away, serviced by the E, M, and R trains. Song Liu is listed as behind the applications.
Permits have been filed for a six-story building for the Chinese Christian Herald Crusade, a Queens-based social service organization. The religious immigrant outreach firm will be creating a center at 132-62 Pople Avenue in Flushing, Queens. The firm purchased the location from developers Lux Pople LLC in May 2017 for $1.6 million.
Permits have been filed for a new 13-story affordable housing complex at 2050 Grand Concourse in The Bronx’s Fordham Heights, bordering the Mount Hope neighborhood. The site is three blocks from the Tremont Avenue subway station, serviced by the B and D trains. Metro-North and the 4 train are also nearby. Unique People Services, i.e. UPS, is responsible for the development.
