Excavation Begins for 1 St. Mark’s Place in East Village, Manhattan

Excavation has begun at 1 St. Mark’s Place, the site of a nine-story commercial building in the East Village. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by Real Estate Equities Corporation, the structure will yield 53,000 square feet of office space and approximately 7,700 square feet of ground-floor retail space. The Rinaldi Group of New York is the general contractor, SDG Engineering PC is the structural engineer, and ICOR Associates is the MEPS engineer for the property, which is alternately addressed as both 3 St. Mark’s Place and 23-25 Third Avenue and is located at the corner of St. Mark’s Place and Third Avenue.

CM & Associates is the general contractor for the property, which is located between East 8th and East 9th Streets, just north of Washington Square Park.

Developed by Wei Hong Hu of H Hotel LLC and recently redesigned by Marin Architects, the 447-foot-tall structure will yield 65 hotel rooms spread across 41,500 square feet as well as meeting rooms and a fitness center.
