Workers have begun pouring the foundations for 23-20 Jackson Avenue, a nine-story mixed-use hotel in Long Island City, Queens. Designed by KSQ Architects and developed by The Vorea Group, the corner property will yield 85,851 square feet of retail, offices, and a 72-room hotel operated by San Francisco-based hotelier Sonder Corp.
YIMBY checked in on 141 Willoughby Street in Downtown Brooklyn, the site of a forthcoming 23-story office building. Demolition has concluded and the land sits awaiting excavation for the 360-foot-tall structure, which is being designed by Fogarty Finger Architects with SLCE Architects as the architect of record. Gregory Jaffe of Savanna is listed as the owner on the applications that were filed in June 2019.
Work is wrapping up on The Symon, a 13-story condominium building at 70 Schermerhorn Street in Brooklyn Heights. Colberg Architecture is the architect of record, while Lonicera Partners, Orange Management, and The Davis Companies are the three developers. The project is located between Boerum Place and Court Street and is steps away from the faux subway entrance to the subterranean New York Transit Museum. Studio DB designed the interior and exteriors of the building.
The reinforced concrete superstructure of 18 Sixth Avenue, a 49-story residential skyscraper, has begun ascending in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. Designed by Perkins Eastman and developed in a joint venture between The Brodsky Organization and Greenland Forest City Partners, the 500-plus-foot-tall building will yield 858 rental units, of which 258 will be dedicated to affordable housing. The project will be the tallest structure in the 22-acre Pacific Park master plan.
YIMBY stopped by 37 Sixth Avenue in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn to see how work is progressing on the 26-story rental building. Designed by Marvel Architects and developed by the Brodsky Organization, the 343,788-square-foot, 323-unit structure is part of the Pacific Park mega-project. The site, which is alternately addressed 495 Dean Street and 664 Pacific Street, is located between Dean Street and Pacific Street, and directly across from Barclays Center.
