TSX Broadway New Superstructure Steadily Takes Shape at 1568 Broadway in Times Square, Manhattan

Construction is progressing on the new superstructure of TSX Broadway, a 470-foot-tall hotel at 1568 Broadway in Times Square. Designed by PBDW ArchitectsMancini Duffy, and Perkins Eastman and developed by L&L Holding CompanyMaefield Development, and Fortress Investment Group, the Midtown, Manhattan project required the partial demolition of the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton while preserving a portion of the original steel-framed podium that’s being repurposed, refurbished, and incorporated into the 21st century overhaul. The end result will be a new 550,000-square-foot tower that will include Kirchoff & Rose’s 108-year-old Palace Theater, which is being renovated and raised 30 feet to make way for ground-floor retail space. The site is located at the corner of Seventh Avenue and West 47th Street, to the east of the red TKTS stairs, and is slated to cost $2.5 billion.

145 Bowery, aka Moxy Lower East Side, Tops Out on Manhattan’s Lower East Side

Construction has topped out on the Moxy Lower East Side at 145 Bowery, an 18-story hotel building on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Designed by Stonehill & Taylor Architects and developed by The Lightstone Group, the 193-foot-tall structure will yield 127,000 square feet with 303 guest rooms, averaging 200 square feet apiece. Leeding builders Group, LLC is the general contractor for the project, which is located at the corner of Broome Street and Bowery.

Hard Rock Hotel Nears Completion at 159 West 48th Street in Times Square, Manhattan

Construction is wrapping up on the Hard Rock Hotel, a 36-story tower at 159 West 48th Street in Times Square. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Extell and Hard Rock International, the 442-foot-tall, 291,000-square-foot structure will yield 446 guest rooms by the corner of West 48th Street and Seventh Avenue. Aecom Tishman is the general contractor for the Midtown project.

202 East 23rd Street’s Superstructure Reaches Halfway Mark in Kips Bay, Manhattan

Construction is rising on 202 East 23rd Street, a 20-story residential building in Kips Bay, Manhattan. Designed by Hill West Architects and developed by SMA Equities, the 90,000-square-foot structure is being built to Passive House standards and will yield 108 units with floor plans ranging from studios to two-bedrooms. Eighty homes will be set at market-rate pricing and the remaining 28 will be designated for affordable housing. KSK Construction Group, LLC is the general contractor for the project, which is located at the corner of East 23rd Street and Third Avenue.

The Willoughby Nears the Finish Line at 196 Willoughby Street in Downtown Brooklyn

Curtain wall installation is nearing completion on The Willoughby, a 34-story mixed-use building at 196 Willoughby Street on Long Island University‘s Downtown Brooklyn campus. Designed by Perkins Eastman and developed by RXR Realty, the 435-foot-tall structure will yield residential units, academic and office spaces, an adjacent athletic field, and parking for 564 vehicles. The Willoughby is bound by Willoughby Street to the north, Ashland Place to the east, DeKalb Avenue to the south, and Flatbush Avenue Extension to the west. Hunter Roberts Construction Group is the general contractor for the LIU expansion project.
