Demolition Complete for 1,100-Foot Supertall at 41-47 West 57th Street in Midtown, Manhattan

Demolition is now complete at 41-47 West 57th Street, the site of a 1,100-foot-tall mixed-use supertall in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by OMA and developed by Sedesco, the 63-story building will yield 119 residential units spread across 443,100 square feet, nearly 205,100 square feet of commercial space in the form of a 158-room hotel, and a 10,212-square-foot restaurant. The project is located between Fifth and Sixth Avenues and will have frontage along both West 57th and West 58th Streets. Sedesco is offering to help construct a pair of new ADA-accessible elevators to the nearby 57th Street station on Sixth Avenue, servicing the F train, in exchange for an additional 52,000 square feet.

Finishing touches are underway on 7 West 57th Street, a 19-story mixed-use tower along Billionaires’ Row in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Hill West Architects and developed by Solow Realty & Development Group, the 237-foot-tall structure is located between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, directly adjacent to the eastern side of Solow’s 50-story SOM-designed skyscraper at 9 West 57th Street.

The finishing exterior touches are underway on 111 West 57th Street, a 1,428-foot supertall residential skyscraper in Midtown and the world’s most slender building with a height-to-width ratio of 24:1. Designed by SHoP Architects and developed by JDS DevelopmentProperty Markets Group, and Spruce Capital Partners, 111 West 57th Street will yield 60 units designed by Studio Sofield and marketed by Douglas Elliman Development Marketing. The project is located on Billionaires’ Row between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, and is almost perfectly aligned with the center line of Central Park.

Exterior work is nearing completion on the renovation of 1100 Avenue of the Americas, a 15-story commercial building at the corner of West 42nd Street and Sixth Avenue in Midtown. Alternatively addressed as Two Bryant Park, the project is developed by Brookfield Properties and involves the refurbishment of the structure’s 386,190 square feet of floor space and a new modern curtain wall designed by MdeAS Architects. AECOM Tishman is the general contractor for the project.

Façade installation is progressing on 223 West 46th Street, a 20-story Marriott SpringHill hotel in Times Square. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architects and developed by McSam Hotel Group, the project will yield 70,000 square feet and 200 guest rooms. The property is located between Seventh and Eighth Avenues and is a short walk from the pedestrian plazas and retail stores that line Times Square’s iconic intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue.
