Gene Kaufman’s 128-Room Hotel at 120 Water Street Reaches Halfway Point in Financial District

Construction is approaching the halfway mark on the Hotel Indigo at 120 Water Street in the Financial District. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architects and developed by Atlas Development, the slim reinforced concrete building will rise with a total of 28 stories and yield 52,000 square feet with 128 hotel rooms, a cellar-level fitness center for guests, a ground-floor restaurant, and a 25th-floor venue space. Fortuna Realty Group will serve as hotel management.

Jacob K. Javits Center’s Massive Expansion Continues in Hudson Yards

Work on the expansion of the Jacob K. Javits Center continues to progress in Hudson Yards. The massive expanse of steelwork is in place and offers a sense of the scale of the 1.2-million-square-foot addition. Tvsdesign is the designer and Empire State Development Corporation is the developer of the new northern wing, which is expected to cost $1.5 billion. Once completed, the project will bring the convention center’s combined square footage to 3.3 million and add an extra 22,000 square feet to the largest green roof in New York City. The construction and design build is being overseen by Lendlease in a joint venture with Turner Construction Company.

YIMBY Scopes The Views From The Top of Madison House, Nomad’s New Tallest Tower

YIMBY recently went on a hard-hat tour of Madison House, aka 15 East 30th Street The slender 805-foot-tall tower is topped out as the tallest skyscraper in NoMad, standing 62 stories tall, and creates a distinct multi-pointed crown and silhouette on the Midtown skyline. The residential building is designed by Handel Architects, while Fosun Group and JD Carlisle are responsible for the nearly 300,000-square-foot development. Steelwork Reaches the Top Podium Level of Norman Foster’s 50 Hudson Yards

The steelwork is continuing its vertical ascent at 50 Hudson Yards, where the large rectangular floor plates have begun to reach the sixth and final floor of the podium. Designed by Norman Foster of Foster + Partners, the supertall skyscraper will eventually stand 1,011 feet tall and contain 2.9 million square feet of office space. Oxford Properties and Mitsui Fudosan are developing the project, which is the final component in the first phase of Related Companies‘ Hudson Yards and will also be the largest office building by floor space in the 28-acre master plan.

Excavation Continues for 33-Story Hotel at 255 West 34th Street in Midtown

Excavation is moving along at 255 West 34th Street, a new 33-story, 330-room hotel just across from One Penn Plaza. The Chetrit Group is developing the Midtown site with Stonehill & Taylor Architects as the architect of record. Meanwhile a new rendering for the 155,594-square-foot development has been posted at the construction site, which is situated along the southern edge of the Garment District.
