Demolition About to Begin at 112 Liberty Street in the Financial District

Scaffolding and black netting shroud the façades of 110 and 112 Liberty Street in preparation for the demolition of the Financial District structures. The site is located across the street from Four World Trade Center, aka 150 Greenwich Street, and sits adjacent to the intersection of Liberty Street and Church Street. The pair of buildings will soon make way for a ground-up 30-story hotel designed by Stonehill & Taylor Architects and developed by Eddie Hidary of 112 Liberty Associates LLC, which filed demolition permits in March.

Morris Adjmi’s 30 East 31st Street Approaching Completion as Façade Work Nears Pinnacle, in NoMad

Exterior work at 30 East 31st Street is making steady progress in NoMad. Located between Park Avenue South and Madison Avenue, the 479-foot-tall residential tower is designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by Ekstein Development and Pinnacle Real Estate. The distinctive pattern of crossed beams at the top of the building will soon be enclosed with floor-to-ceiling glass. Douglas Elliman Development is marketing the 88,000-square-foot project, with prices ranging from $1.65 to $12 million. The 40-story structure will contain a total of 42 units spread across 70,070 square feet of space, for an average of 1,700 square feet apiece.

Silverstein Properties Completes $50 Million Renovation of the Equitable Building at 120 Broadway in the Financial District

Restoration work on the Equitable Building, aka 120 Broadway, is complete. The historic 104-year-old Beaux Arts skyscraper underwent a two-year, $50 million renovation and recently celebrated the opening of the Bankers Club. The 20,000-square foot space is located on the 40th floor of the 1.9 million-square-foot commercial office building and features an 8,000-square-foot indoor lounge, a cafe, a food hall, and a large, newly built outdoor landscaped rooftop deck for tenants. Beyer Blinder Belle is the design team, while Silverstein Properties is responsible for financing the Financial District project.

Virgin Hotel’s Glass Curtain Wall Rising Quickly at 1225 Broadway in NoMad

Work on Virgin Hotel‘s reflective glass curtain wall is making quick progress at 1225 Broadway in NoMad. Designed by Stantec, the 476-foot-tall superstructure topped out in February, and over the past months the envelope has climbed closer to the building’s pinnacle. The tower will feature 300,000 square feet of newly built space, of which most will be occupied by its 460 hotel rooms. The lower podium floors will contain 90,000 square feet of retail. Lam Group is the developer of the property, and Sir Richard Branson of Virgin Group will be in charge of managing the hotel.

Rose Hill’s Art Deco-Inspired Façade Installation Begins at 30 East 29th Street in NoMad

Installation of the dark-colored curtain wall panels has begun at Rose Hill, aka 30 East 29th Street, in NoMad. The Art Deco-inspired envelope now covers the podium and first residential floors of the future 45-story skyscraper, which is located between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue South. Designed by CetraRuddy Architecture and developed by Rockefeller Group, the tower will stand 639 feet tall and become one of the most prominent structures in the neighborhood. CORE is managing sales and the marketing of the units.
