David Adjaye’s 130 William Street Sees Major Design Update, Financial District

YIMBY has covered 130 William Street extensively, from back when preliminary permits were first filed in 2015, to the recent start of foundation work. Now, the building has seen another design shift, with new renderings by architect David Adjaye revealing a substantial transformation to the exterior as compared to the most recent images. The 61-story tower is being developed by Lightstone, and is just about ready to start rising above ground level.

TWA Hotel At JFK Airport’s Famed Eero Saarinen Terminal Tops Out

Yesterday, construction topped-out on the TWA Hotel, which flanks the famous TWA Flight Center designed by Eero Saarinen at JFK Airport. This news comes almost exactly a year after the groundbreaking ceremony, held with Governor Andrew Cuomo on December 15^th, 2016. The hotel creates 50,000 square feet of meeting and event space, as well as eight restaurants and six bars. 10,000 square feet of observation space will be made available to the public.

Kaufman-Designed 6 Water Street Now Complete in the Financial District

Construction on the 29-story Gene Kaufman-designed 6 Water Street has wrapped, and the shiny new blue and white façade looks directly over the South Ferry terminal, Battery Park, and New York Harbor.

Macklowe’s 200 East 59th Street Nears Completion On The Upper East Side

Harry Macklowe’s most prominent project to date is certainly 432 Park Avenue, on the corner of 57th Street. But two blocks to the northeast, the developer’s CetraRuddy-designed tower at 200 East 59th Street is making a mark of its own, and is now almost complete. While the 35-story and 490-foot-tall tower may not be quite as tall as its sibling to the south, the concrete design has become another attractive addition to the Manhattan skyline, and today we have a look thanks to photos by DBOX.

Tishman Speyer’s BIG Supertall Ready To Rise at 66 Hudson Boulevard, Hudson Yards

The last time YIMBY reported on progress at 66 Hudson Boulevard was back in September of 2016, when Tishman Speyer filed permits for the 64-story office giant, designed by Bjarke Ingels Group/BIG. Now, demolition has wrapped on the site’s former low-slung structures, which means work can officially begin on the spiraling supertall.

Leasing Begins for 280 Ashland Place, Downtown Brooklyn

As YIMBY reported back in October, construction is nearly complete for the 12-story 280 Ashland Place, in the Downtown Cultural District of Brooklyn, and now, leasing has officially commenced. The project has been named Caesura, a term for the pause in the middle of a line of music poetry. Its next-door neighbor, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, gives the inspiration. Jonathan Rose Companies LLC is behind the building, which had previously gone by the address of 15 Lafayette Avenue.

Soon-To-Be Supertall 35 Hudson Yards Passes Halfway Point In Rise

Supertall office towers are nearing a dime a dozen in Hudson Yards, with 30 Hudson Yards already passing the 984-foot mark, and 1 Manhattan West, The Spiral, and 50 Hudson Yards set to eclipse it over the next few years. While most of the neighborhood’s residential towers have been a few steps behind their larger companions along 57th Street, the Skidmore, Owings & Merrill-designed 35 Hudson Yards will be the first to pass the threshold. Now, the building has passed the halfway mark, and as its exterior installation has also progressed, the future icon is quickly gaining prominence on the Midtown West skyline.

Images Revealed for 127 West 112th Street, Harlem

An imaged displayed onsite at 127 West 112^th Street has provided YIMBY with a good look at the future design. The seven-story structure will include large windows and nine balconies, and what will likely be a private terrace on the top floor. The material used will probably be brick, with the possibility of metal paneling for accents. Three trees will be planted outside the building. Karl Fischer is responsible for the design.

Extell’s Central Park Tower Gets Fresh Renderings, Nears Halfway Point at 217 West 57th Street

The last time YIMBY checked on progress at Extell’s Central Park Tower, rising at 217 West 57th Street, glass installation had just begun, and the building was several floors above its cantilever. Three months later, the supertall’s superstructure is pushing towards its halfway point, and stands over 700 feet above the streets below. New renderings for the project have also appeared alongside its partially-launched website, giving a better idea of interiors, as well as the nighttime lighting scheme.

Thomas Heatherwick’s Vessel Tops Out in Hudson Yards

While topping-out ceremonies are usually reserved for buildings, today, Related Companies is installing the final piece for The Vessel, designed by Thomas Heatherwick, which will become the defining public art statement atop the redevelopment of the Hudson Railyards. The sculpture is already practically complete, and stands 150 feet to its parapet.
