The Hallets Point megaproject is finally moving forward on the Astoria waterfront: a new building application has been filed for a 22-story mixed use complex at 26-01 1st Street.
In January, the foundation was being poured at 333 Schermerhorn Street, the site of Steiner Studios’ 53-story, 581-unit mixed-use tower in Downtown Brooklyn; Brownstoner has the latest update, and it appears the tower portion is now rising and is already a few floors above the base podium. Dattner Architects and Goldstein Hill & West Architects are designing, and completion is expected in 2017.
Three years ago during Hurricane Sandy, flooding ravaged the Madeleine Jones Head Start Center on Neptune Avenue in Coney Island, and its owners, Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens, began their search for a new location and a new building to house their daycare center.
The East River waterfront is booming with new development from Brooklyn up into Queens, and YIMBY now has a closer look at the first building planned to rise at Hallets Point, in Astoria. The Durst Organization and Lincoln Equities are developing the project, which was approved last year, and Dattner is designing.
Brownstoner noticed Red Apple Group’s 15-story, 213-unit rental building has risen above street level at 180 Myrtle Avenue, in Downtown Brooklyn. The project was revealed by YIMBY back in 2014, and Dattner Architects is designing. Completion is expected in the summer of 2016.
