Demolition Permits Filed for 308-314 East 86th Street, Upper East Side

Demolition permits have been filed for 308, 310, 312, and 314 East 86th Street, by 2nd Avenue, on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, all by the same developer. The buildings are right next to the new 86th Street Subway Station, serviced by the Q train. The sites are owned by Izaki Group Investments, who were reported as purchasing three of the sites in March of 2017 for $42 million, from Extell Development, which purchased the sites in April of 2016.

Developer Begins Demolition At Fifth Avenue-West 46th Street Assemblage, Midtown

Gary Barnett’s Extell Development is moving forward with an unknown project on the corner of Fifth Avenue and West 46th Street, in Midtown’s Diamond District. Curbed NY reports the developer recently filed demolition permits for six five-story commercial buildings spanning 3-13 West 46th Street. The row of buildings are currently masked with black netting, which means demolition should begin soon.

In 2015, New York’s landmarks law turned 50 years old. Events and discussion panels were held across the city throughout the year. The Museum of the City of New York held the commemorative Saving Place exhibit. As YIMBY reported, six individual landmarks and four historic districts were designated during this period. The old Mercedes dealership at 520 West 41st Street and Eleventh Avenue is meeting a quick demise, paving the way for Silverstein Properties to begin preparation work for their future mixed-use development. While the project must still pass through ULURP, YIMBY revealed preliminary renderings last June, showing a 1,400-unit tower rising above a significant retail podium. Now we have a few overhead shots of demolition progress taken from the nearly-completed Skye, just a few hundred feet to the northwest.
