YIMBY Tours 325 Kent Avenue As Domino Park’s Public Opening Set for June 10th

As construction continues on one of the city’s largest waterfront developments, YIMBY took a tour of 325 Kent Avenue, ahead of Domino Park’s opening on June 10th. Once it opens, the park is expected to be the largest public space in the Five Boroughs to debut in 2018. The landscaped area extends over six acres, one acre more than the Hudson Yards plaza opening this Fall.

Domino Park Nears Public Debut As Crane Rises for COOKFOX-Designed 260 Kent Avenue

In less than eight weeks, the Domino Sugar Factory’s  redevelopment is expected to open up six acres of landscaped public space on 1,200 feet of the Williamsburg waterfront. Two Trees Management is developing the land, immediately north of the Williamsburg Bridge. The master plan includes square-arch motifs in three of the four new buildings, indicative of this project’s relationship with the bridge as the gateway to North Brooklyn. The public space has been designed by James Corner Field Operations, who also designed the new High Line Park.

Historic Domino Sugar Refinery’s Revised Redevelopment Plans Approved by Landmarks

The Landmark Preservation Commission has approved a new design for the Domino Sugar Factory Refinery building, which is being redeveloped by Two Trees Management Company, and designed by Vishaan Chakrabarti’s Practice for Architecture and Urbanism, aka PAU. The commission made no changes to the proposal, and Two Trees’ Managing Director David Lombino said “Thank you to the Landmarks Preservation Commission for engaging in a productive and thoughtful review, and for supporting this exciting new approach to making the Refinery building the centerpiece of the Domino redevelopment.”

Historic Domino Sugar Factory Redevelopment Sees Major Update, Williamsburg

Two Trees’ plans for the Domino Factory redevelopment have seen several shifts over the years, but progress is already underway across several of the sites comprising the masterplan, which entails thousands of new units across a multitude of towers. Now, the full plans for the actual Domino Factory redevelopment are out, and they have seen substantial revisions as Vishaan Chakrabarti’s PAU, aka, Practice for Architecture and Urbanism, has taken the helm for the project’s design.
